DarkStar1977 93 Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Hi Emby Team, The latest version of Apple TV client is less stable than previous. I suffer constantly: 1.- Start Playing Video (movie, show, etc) with audio but black screen -> Solution: Close the app entirely and reopen it. 2.- Start Playing Video (movie, show, etc) with audio but frozen (by frozen is that picture is shown but frozen there) screen -> Solution: Close the app entirely and reopen it. 3.- Finishing playing an episode, moving to next one and happening 1, or 2 previously defined problems or crashing the application and going back to Apple TV Home Screen 4.- Going to movies section, navigate some screens down and the app crashes returning to Apple TV Home Screen. 5.- Search for something in the search panel and the app crashes returning to Apple TV Home Screen. All of this is really anoying and I would like to help to solve it. Tell me what can I provide to identify and solve this issues because are random and somedays happen 10 times and the other one none. Thanks-
Luke 40077 Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Hi, are you still seeing this with Emby for Apple TV 1.9.1?

Since updated this morning to 1.9.1 (1), for now I've only suffered 2 times: 3.- Finishing playing an episode, moving to next snd getting it with audio but black screen -> Solution: Close the app entirely and reopen it. BTW, in Collections, the item that group Movies in Spanish - Peliculas - has been renamed to -Videos- in Apple TV client, and this is a mistake. @SamES Hope this helps.

I can confirm that all scenarios at the begining of this post are still happenig. I must say that seems that not as often as in the past, but are still present. Tell me if I can help with anything.
DarkStar1977 93 Posted October 28, 2024 Author Posted October 28, 2024 If there's something I can do to help debug, just tell me. Cheers. 1
Andromeda1 2 Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 I'm also having problems with the AppleTV app hanging after playing movies or crashing and going to home screen since the update to 1.9. I have updated to 1.9.1 but the problems persist.
Luke 40077 Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Hi, we have a 1.9.2 release that should be available in the coming days. Please let us know if this resolves it for you. Thanks. 1

I'll be updating the other AppleTV tomorrow, and letting the kiddo run wild on it so we can verify, as she's the one who's managed to reproduce the error most often. 1
Andromeda1 2 Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 1.9.2 is stable for me. Thank you. Also on tvOs 18.1 1

Even more I've seen a new one: 1.- Start Playing Video (movie, show, etc) with audio but black screen -> Solution: Close the app entirely and reopen it. 6.- Playing a tvshow with subtitles, where subtitles stop playing while video and audio continues and after 10 seconds client crashes and return to apple tv homescreen I'm open to provide any information or help in any way I can. Cheers.
Grocerybill 5 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hi folks I'm coming over to emby from plex and am running emby app 1.9.2(1) with a subscription and everything seems to work except the live tv guide on the Apple TV . As soon as I select it the app crashes. I can select and watch shows by going through the programs section on the Apple TV app and select and watch recordings but the live tv guide won’t do anything but crash. Other devices including iPhones and iPads work fine. any ideas? thanks will
DarkStar1977 93 Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 The Apple TV is crashing constantly and randomly, I've been asking for months for a solution and offering myself to test, provide data, feedback, whatever is needed. Nothing happened
Grocerybill 5 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Ouch. I realize it’s one of the lesser used os-s but the iOS apps work fine. I’m surprised it’s such a problem to fix. maybe I’ll start a new thread to bump it. thanks
Luke 40077 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Hi, we are looking into this. Thanks for reporting.

Grocerybill 5 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Hi Luke, I typod that version number. It’s 1.9.3(3) and the guide issue is still there. Everything works except the live guide. As soon as it’s selected from the menu the app crashes (full exit back to app selection menu). if it helps: tuner/encoder - HD home run flex 4K Apple TV tvOS - version 18.2 [22k155] emby server on Mac with i5 & os 14.6.2 Emby server OS- 4.8.10.0 gude works without issue on server and Roku devices Let me know if there is anything else I can provide to help
SamES 1004 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 5 hours ago, Luke said: @SamESare you able to reproduce? No, I cannot. @Grocerybill, can you please post a screenshot of the guide from the web app in case we can see anything that might be causing it to crash?
Grocerybill 5 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Pics of Home Screen to live guide on server - localhost webpage
Grocerybill 5 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 @SamES@Luke Pictures of webpage for guide in previous post. This post contains a video of issue. Starting Emby app, selecting menu options to check for active connection to server, then selecting guide and the subsequent crash. since the app was uprev’d via an upgrade I’ll fully un install and reinstall. Grocerybill 5 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Nope. Uninstall /restart/ reinstall still has the problem. Just highlighting the guide option from the menu bar causes it to crash.
