kamhouse 9 Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Can we get a user profile based feature that allows setting a timer to release the next TV episode of a show into the continue watching hub? The usage would be perhaps if I have a full TV series on the server but want the experience of a weekly release to draw out the experience and limit my binge watching temptation. So for example as a user I could browse into a TV series main page and setup a timer to release 1 episode ever 1 weeks, or maybe 2 episodes every 1 weeks, then once I watch the first episode it would start the timer and hide the next episode from the Continue Watching hub until the timer was fulfilled. Perhaps we could even set a calendar start date that automatically injected the first episode into the Continue Watching hub. In addition I think it should release on a strict schedule (like every Friday) and not , for example, 7 days from the last watch. So if I have it setup to release on Friday it should release every Friday even if I sometimes watch on a following Monday. Maybe also allow the accumulation of episodes so if I miss an entire week there might be two episodes available the next week.
Luke 38492 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Hi, so you want this even if you haven't finished watching the previous one?

Basically like the effect of a DVR recording a new episode every week whether you watch it or not. However, I guess it could be a setting for the user to choose a rigid schedule every day or every week no matter what, or flexible schedule where it waited until you watched the episode then released on the next matching day of the week or whatever. What I wouldn't want is for the release date to constantly change based on the day you watch. So if a show was releasing weekly on a Friday and I waited until Wednesday to watch, I wouldn't want it to release the next episode on the following Wednesday. On a different note, from a user interface standpoint, one thing that might be beneficial is once a schedule has been setup, provide a spreadsheet view showing all the upcoming release dates. That way if they decide for just this weekend they want to binge watch half a dozen episodes, they could go in and manually release them. Then it should probably recalculate the entire schedule after any manual override, rather than, for example, wait six weeks before resuming on the old schedule. Edited October 16 by kamhouse 1
Stroudy 14 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I like the idea but I'd probably want it in a "Coming Soon" section for all upcoming releases that I could put on the homepage. Something like my screenshot:
kamhouse 9 Posted October 16 Author Posted October 16 (edited) Why would you want it in a coming soon category if it was available now to watch? Or are you just talking about the spreadsheet feature I mentioned? You might could do that for the next couple weeks worth, but I don't think it would be usable if you put an entire series in there. A coming soon hub might be nice too though on the DVR system simply for a reminder to check on the recordings and make sure they didn't fail. Edited October 16 by kamhouse
Stroudy 14 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 My screenshot was for future episodes that are not released yet.
