RIP314 2 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 After seeing a lot of music videos disappear off the web over the pass two decades I decided to start a music videos library. I literally have no idea what the point of this library is, it doesn't play videos continuously, the shuffle feature never seems to work for me on my browser or on my firestick app. I feel like just trying to make a Television library and putting them in there so at least they play continuously instead of stopping after ever video. I honestly can't stand this about Emby, it's a feature I've been wanting for a long time, I just wish there was an option after a movie or TV series ended to have the next one in the library play automatically. I've even noticed that if you have a TV show where the episodes are ordered by dated instead of episode number it won't play the next episode automatically, this drives me nuts for things like live sporting events. Can we please get something to fix any of these issues?
visproduction 280 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Music Videos: Use a playlist. TV series: Admin Dashboard / Playback (Left menu tab) / Advanced / Play next episode automatically - Check the box
Luke 40067 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Hi, shuffle works just fine. Can we please look at a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !

TV series: Admin Dashboard / Playback (Left menu tab) / Advanced / Play next episode automatically - Check the box Yeah, I understand I can use a playlist, but that means I'd have to keep adding every video to the playlist that I add to my library in the future, plus playlists (at least on the firestick app) often won't let me start from anywhere, but the first video, so I can't easily navigate the list for whatever video I want and play from there with continuous play, pretty silly way to do things. Also I have that option selected in TV series, but it doesn't fix my problem of Emby not playing next episodes if the episodes are ordered by dates instead of being episodically numbered.
RIP314 2 Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 Also none of this addresses continuous play with the movie library or with it playing other TV series after one series is finished playing.
visproduction 280 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Rip, OK, Playlists are extra effort. Did you know you can multiple select dozens of music tracks and add them all at once to a new playlist? Hmm series not playing sequentially. I think my series playback automatically. Did you try naming the files the way suggested in the file naming guide? https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html I think you may need the S01E03 type of info in the file name. Playing other series or not. That seems like a feature request. Might be worth adding a posting to feature requests. This is the first mention I have read on NOT going to the next series to play back. It seems like a resonable limit.

Yes, naming the episodes using numbers instead of allowing them to be sorted by date would solve the problem, I'm literally saying that in my post. I said twice that episodes using premiere date order to organize versus numbering them sequentially causes them not to play continuously, it's literally what my complaint is about. It seems simple to just name them with episode orders, but I'm talking about things like live sporting events, where maybe I don't have all of the events (some times I don't know I don't have them all), so just naming them 1 - infinity would work. but if I'm missing an event and have to insert later then now I have a problem. RIP314 2 Posted October 11, 2024 Author Posted October 11, 2024 So as a follow-up, I recently discovered that there are two apps for the firestick: one is a TV-centric app which gives just the "television-view" of emby, the other one is based on the web-browser version, this second version allows you to do things like "play from here", this works well for the feature I was looking for with music videos. If I just choose "play from here" everything in that library gets added to the queue which is great. My suggestion would be to give this as a default setting so every time you click play on a video it adds everything to the queue or even just maybe a "add to queue" option for videos, right now this option is only available for audio files. 1
