jmsaxman 1 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Emby Server version 4.8.10.0 running on Ubuntu Server 22.04.5 LTS I have several different versions of a movie (theatrical release, extended editions, etc) in different resolutions, and when I look in that library, I see two instances of the same movie, rather than all of the different versions being grouped under the same instance. Emby sees all of the versions in that directory, generates NFO files for them, and they show up in the library listing with the same title, metadata and title image. In this case, it's Dawn of the Dead (1978). Each of the images in the attached screenshot corresponds to one of the MKV files in the directory listing below. -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 48402256274 Jan 23 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - 1080p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 17304 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - 1080p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 63871751622 Mar 4 2023 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - 2160p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 19805 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - 2160p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 7185831454 Apr 6 2020 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - 480p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 18920 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - 480p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 55744316736 Jan 23 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Cannes Extended Cut 1080p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 17304 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Cannes Extended Cut 1080p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 61311928773 Mar 4 2023 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Cannes Extended Cut 2160p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 18208 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Cannes Extended Cut 2160p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 5635745857 Apr 6 2020 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Cannes Extended Cut 480p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 17921 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Cannes Extended Cut 480p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 61878797493 Jan 23 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 1080p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 17304 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 1080p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 61033471931 Mar 5 2023 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 2160p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 19472 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 2160p.nfo' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 131550 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 2160p-poster.jpg' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 5387706688 Apr 6 2020 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 480p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 18587 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 480p.nfo' drwxrwxr-x 2 emby emby 4096 Nov 7 2020 'deleted scenes' drwxrwxr-x 2 emby emby 4096 Oct 3 2022 extras -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 46684 Apr 3 2023 fanart.jpg drwxrwxr-x 2 emby emby 4096 Mar 5 2023 featurettes drwxrwxr-x 2 emby emby 4096 Mar 5 2023 interviews -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 0 Apr 3 2020 J0324.txt -rw-rw-r-- 1 emby emby 0 Mar 5 2023 J2010U.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 284052 Mar 5 2023 landscape.jpg -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 148879 Oct 5 2022 poster.jpg drwxrwxr-x 2 emby emby 4096 Nov 7 2020 scenes drwxrwxr-x 2 emby emby 4096 Mar 5 2023 trailers I have many other movies with multiple versions and they all show up only once in the library listing, and then you can pick the version and resolution you want to view. It appears that there might be an upper limit of 8 versions of the same movie? In this case, there are 9 versions. To test this, I moved of the video files for this movie to a directory outside of the library, deleted the generated NFO and JPG files, moved the video files back in one at a time and let Emby find the files and generate new NFO files and pictures. The first 8 video files all got grouped under one listing. I can go into that listing and pick any of those 8 versions to watch. When I moved the last video file back in, that generated a second instance of Dawn of the Dead (1978) with just that version (European Argento Cut, 2160p). Am I correct in thinking there's an upper limit of 8 different versions of the same title allowed per listing? Is there a way to work around that, or should I just delete one of the lower-resolution versions to stay under that limit?

Try moving these files out, of the library, to a temp folder and see what happens. 15 hours ago, jmsaxman said: -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 5387706688 Apr 6 2020 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 480p.mkv' -rw-r--r-- 1 emby emby 18587 Jan 24 2024 'Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European Argento Cut 480p.nfo'
Neminem 897 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 But I don't see any limitations in the wiki, about Multi version. Movie Naming | Emby Documentation There is a limit when it comes to parts, and that is 9.
Luke 40122 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 HI, this is correct, it is capped at 8. We'll have to look at exposing an option to control that.
Neminem 897 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 If thats the case then the wiki should be updated, with that linitation. @sa2000 On 10/2/2024 at 12:01 PM, Luke said: HI, this is correct, it is capped at 8. We'll have to look at exposing an option to control that. 2

jmsaxman 1 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Any word on where this feature is in terms of making it into a general release?

There are some bug fixes / improvements that are currently in the 4.9.0.x beta and these will get to a general release at the end of the beta. I do not have any timescales on how soon that will be.
