Neminem 793 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Hi all. How do I turn off the funny season naming ? It use to be Season 1 etc. But now it has some name to it instead. I think its something I'm over looking, since i can't be something added with out a off switch. 1
GrimReaper 3975 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) I hate those. And there should definitely be an option to opt out. I guess there might've been an update to either TMDB or TVDB plugin, as until relatively recently TVDB did not provide Season metadata, Emby was downloading those only from TMDB. You can try disabling season metadata provider in your library settings, effectively preventing those season titles to be downloaded (though that would apply also on season overviews, if available), see how does that compare - or wait if/until some option to control that will potentially be implemented. Neminem 793 Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Thanks @GrimReaperwas loosing my mind trying to finde the option. Will wait, for the option to turn it off.
Neminem 793 Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 @GrimReaper I guess this should be moved to FR. Other wise we will never get the option, to disable this.
GrimReaper 3975 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Yeah, for the time being, let's rather wait for the Devs' input or insight from some fellow member that might be more familiar with that, maybe there is a way already to get rid of those as I'm not particularly paying attention to Emby's internal metadata downloaders and their options and finesse since I have all of them and image fetchers permanently disabled as I'm providing all the metadata/artwork locally from 3rd-party tool. 1
adminExitium 281 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 It was added from this thread and the suggestion is turn it off in the season providers for now: At minimum, I would also expect the display to atleast look something like Season <number> - <Title>, which is how TVDB also lists them. Showing just the titles just confuses users without adding some kind of overlay to the season poster to indicate the number. 1
Neminem 793 Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 @adminExitium Ok thanks, will try that tomorrow And refresh metadata.

As Emby is not wrapping long names - if prefixed, those titles would hardly ever been visible in full (basically only in local Web app with custom CSS), the only proper way to go about this would be a library option/toggle, as it should've been done in the first place, before the plugin updates pushed.
Luke 39648 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Hi, simply uncheck the season metadata fetcher on the library.

Not sure who are you replying to and what is the purpose of that comment? As same was already said twice in this topic: 5 hours ago, GrimReaper said: try disabling season metadata provider in your library settings 1 hour ago, adminExitium said: the suggestion is turn it off in the season providers What you should actually address is: 5 hours ago, GrimReaper said: though that would apply also on season overviews Why are you forcing users to choose either both of those - or none? Personally have no horse in this race, but I'd be severely irked if I had. Edited September 17, 2024 by GrimReaper
Luke 39648 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Ideally there should be a separate option to control whether season titles get imported or not, but currently, that's all the tvdb season provider fetches so just disabling it will suffice for now.
Neminem 793 Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 I guess its this I need to disable. It would be nice it there was a explanation of what this does. Right now this is guess work, what it does. 1
Neminem 793 Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 Just to add to this...... I now have to manually edit metadata back to season 1 .... etc.. To get this undone
train_wreck 0 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 OK , so I unchecked all of the metadata downloaders for Seasons, and..... it changed absolutely nothing. It still shows seasons. Even in Folder view. Like, I just want the folders. Just. The. Folders.....

Disabling or Enabling any setting will not change existing information and will require a complete Refresh of metadata. Edited March 16 by Happy2Play
Neminem 793 Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 (edited) Back when I had that issue, a metadata refresh DID not help. I had to manually undo this Shi# Show. That why I never marked it as solved. I do not want to test this again, It took hours to manually undo. And the description has not change to describe what cluster fu#k this can be. Edited March 17 by Neminem

Neminem 793 Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 Thanks @LukeJust did a test on 4.9.0.46 Unticking Season metadata providers and refresh all metadata now reverts season naming With Season metadata enabled. With Season metadata disabled and a refresh all metadata on "Babylon 5". How ever there is still no description of what Season metadata does. I will mark this as solved, in upcoming release 4.9. 1 1

I have all season metadata fetchers unchecked, and forced refresh on the affected series, but it will not revert. I'm going to assume it's because I have metadata saved to nfo files and it's picking it back up from that.
