looking111 14 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 (edited) Hello all, i use Version 4.8.8.0. on Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS with an NVIDIA RTX A2000. Transcoding is working fine with the GPU. Shouldn't the conversion of videos also be processed with the performance of the graphics card? After all, it is a similar process. However, I have not found an option for this. I didn't find anything about this in the documentation either. Does anyone know what I have to set? Thanks Edited July 27 by looking111
Happy2Play 9079 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Will need to see the ffmpeg log for specific example of it not working but there is not option that I know of beside enabling HWA. 15:19:37.823 Stream mapping: 15:19:37.823 Stream #0:0 (h264_qsv) -> vpp_qsv:default (graph 0) 15:19:37.823 vpp_qsv:default (graph 0) -> Stream #0:0 (h264_qsv) 15:19:37.823 Stream #0:2 -> #0:1 (dts (dca) -> aac (native)) 15:19:37.823 Stream #0:1 -> #0:2 (copy) Can only guess it fails in hardware and moves on to software.

else can you do to speed things up? The convert speed was 80MB/s. Because the server connection has 10Gbit, the storage can manage even more and the graphics card is at 30% load during the conversion process. I assume that these things can't be very efficient? I was probably expecting too much.
Luke 38527 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Hi, you could try checking the box in server conversion settings to enable full speed conversions. 1

Luke 38527 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Did you customize any hardware transcoding options? For some reason the command line contains -threads 1

Yes, I have to admit, I've never noticed them before. Basically everything here was set to default. You can make a lot of settings in the profiles. I played around a bit. There is only one profile that you can change. "NVENC NVIDIA RTX A2000 12GB - H.264 (AVC)". I have switched between High, Low, Fast and Slow. But I have not yet noticed any noticeable change. Is there any documentation for the settings? Unfortunately I couldn't find anything in the Wiki. I would like to compare the speed. Software encoder vs. hardware encoder. The two software encoders are not used as this is done by the graphics card. However, I have set them to 16 threads to be on the safe side.
