jorgebg 1 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Hi, Every time I try to playback a video with OPUS audio encoding, the audio stops after a couple of seconds. The video keeps playing, though. If I jump to another time of the video, then the audio starts playing again, but then stops, ad before, after a few seconds. I found this issue is happening only with videos with OPUS audio. I couldn find any transcoding logs related to the video I played. Should this audio being transcoded for the TV? I took a look in the Settings/Transcoding section, but I couldn't find any option for enabling audio transcoding. Could I fix it without converting the whole file? Thanks in advance. SamES 980 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I'm not aware of any other reports of issues with Opus, as far as I know it has always worked fine, but I would also say it's probably not commonly used so if there are issues it may have gone unnoticed. Can you try with just the TV's built in speakers, not through your AV receiver, just to see whether it performs any differently? Do you have any Opus files that work fine, or do they all have the same issue?
jorgebg 1 Posted July 15, 2024 Author Posted July 15, 2024 Just tried with the TV built in speakers. There was sound, but it was very distorted. Like robotic and unintelligible. It happens with every video that has OPUS encoding. It's an issue I've been having for weeks with different files. Eventually I realized it was happening only with the media with OPUS encoding.
GrimReaper 3915 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) Out of curiosity, if you trigger transcoding (select Quality as value lower than item bitrate), how does it compare? Edited July 15, 2024 by GrimReaper
Lopokato 1 Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Hello! Thought I'd chime in as I have the exact same issue on my Samsung TV on videos with OPUS. Selecting a bitrate lower than the video bitrate (9 Mbit in my case) solves the audio stutter while going just over starts the the stutter with varying degrees of intensity going from a light stutter to <1 sec of clean audio before being unintelligible on Auto.

I tried different transcoding combinations. The change happened near the 4 Mbps bandwidth for me: At 1080p 4 Mbps the sound comes and goes every few seconds, and it is robotic. At 720p 4 Mbps, sound works properly.

I took this from the web browser but the only difference from the TV textbox is instead of dropped frames it says "Video resolution:1920x1080" 1
SamES 980 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Do you know if you've always had this issue with Opus, or did it start recently/last update or two?

HorsePDF 11 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Was any progress made on this? I am having the same issues. Can we somehow block certain codecs for a player so that it is forced to be transcoded? When I force transcoding on these files it works fine, however this is a problem because when I watch a different video then the lower quality settings are obviously still set (720p 4mbps)

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
