I am running Kodi 21.0 on CoreElec and have created a young childs profile. On the Emby Server i have turned on Parental Control and set the rating and that is working well. However there were some titles within that rating range (or unrated) that i did not want accessible to the child. I have created a tag and tagged the items and added the tag to the Restrict Items with Tags list. If i log into Emby via a webbrowser as the child, the list of movies looks exactly how i expect, however in Kodi, the tagged movies still remain and can be played. I am running the latest versions, i have tried refreshing the library and items and yet they remain. It as if the Kodi add-on does not acknowledge the Restrict Items with Tags list option.

Can anyone please assist?

I just run a quick test and yes, seems be listed in Kodi if you add the restriction tags after you synced the content. If the tags are added before sync it's correct.

Unfortunately, there is nothing I could do about it form plugin side. This needs some improvements on Emby server side.

@Luke

1. Websocket and Kodi companion should report restricted content as deleted/removed items.

2. Even if the plugin missed that sync for some reason, Emby server should check the permissions also on each video feed request.

3. I think it's not just related to restriction tags, could be the same on ratings restrictions (only) as well.

Hi, yes it makes sense.

Checking in on this, for some reason I had a movie pull the Australian rating PG instead of US PG-13 and now can't get it out of my kid profile.

Hi there, can you please describe your issue in more detail, along with an example? Thanks.

@LukeI think he changed the rating from PG-13 to PG and now should be blocked in KODI's Kids profile.

Emby (WebUI or API) no longer offers this movie for EMBY's Kids profile library request, but as he synced the movie to Kodi BEFORE the change was made, it's in Kodi's database.

The movie is still accessible by video stream API requests via Kid's profile from Kodi.

@hukt_own_fonikz

Only workaround is a resync in Kodi, or maybe set a rating limit in Kodi as well (never tried that, not sure if there is an option for that).

Yes @quickmicis correct, when I synced a movie, the metadata provider for some reason had the Australian PG rating for the movie The Fifth Element. I've manually changed the rating to PG-13 in Emby but Kodi will not pick up the change, even if I refresh the movie using the right click menu.

Do I need to resync the entire database?

Repair sync of the library.

No factory reset required.
