Question about this, I set a channel tag on my m3u tv tuner and did a channel refresh but the channels still do not have the new tag on them.  Is there something else I need to do?

Hi, how are you determining this?

Hi Luke, tried to show this with my screenshot.  There is no new tag on my channels, just the tag provided from the m3u.  I guess my assumption that "add tags to channels" would add a tag to the metadata that I would be able to see when I look at the channels metadata.  Is that not correct.

Just to back up my suspicion I restricted the 'jay1912' on my own account and I can still see all of the channels so something doesn't seem to be working correctly? Or am I misunderstanding how it works

Hi,

Try something for me.  Try adding "TestTag" instead of your username.
Just to be extra careful testing this.  Make sure there is no spaces in front or back of the tag.

If this doesn't work for some reason, try adding a new tuner with the tag and see if it works then.

Thanks Carlo, I tried "TestTag" and waited for a full refresh to complete and there are still no tags on the channels.

I will test adding an additional tuner, but have not yet.  I will report back when I do.  If that does work (I suspect it will) - is it possible to remove and re-add my current primary tuner that the users are currently accessing without users losing all of their favorites and other customizations that has been made to the channels from that tuner?  (ie: I have gone through and disabled many of the channels from that tuner)

@Carloany idea about this? I don't really want to remove my current tuner if people are going to lose their favorites, but I'm not sure if they will or not

Had a chance to try it yet?

Yes, it does show up on a brand new tuner.  My concern now is adding it to my main tuner, if I remove that tuner I suspect all of my users are going to lose their favourites other customizations that have been done to those channels.   I'm not sure how to test this for myself without risking losing it all.  Do you know if the favourites will still be there if I remove and re-add the tuner?

Screenshot from my test, this is not my main tuner.

Sorry for the delay, but I just got a chance to test this.  I set up an m3u tuner on a clean install.  Marked two channels as favorites and then set my lineup to show favs first followed by title. My two channels were at the top.
Removed m3u file, Restarted Emby Server. I did the restart just to make sure I didn't have any preferences in memory.
Added the M3U back again.
When to LiveTV and it had the two channels as favorites.  Emby also remembered my custom sort order.

Even though they worked for me I would still do a similar test on your system, just to be positive.
Try testing using another m3u file with 5 dummy channels to do the test. This way you can add/remove the test m3u file without touching your actual lineup.

Honestly I never even considered using a dummy file for testing which was making it difficult because I don't just have m3u's to mess with, thank you for that and thank you for testing!
