DarkStar1977 82 Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 (edited) Hi my apple TV client have been updated and I'm finding some issues, most of them visual ones: MY MEDIA: Rectangles have been changed by round squares ? Fine but: - Why some of them has the text in white and others in black? (And no, this libraries has no new media aded recently or any other thing that can make them be in white text instead of black) - Why the text is aligned to the left with no spacing or being centered ? (Looks Horrible) - Why highlighted selection is a big rectangle ? Mades difficult to see it and looks terrible (Audiolibros) LIVE TV: New Squares are presenting some of the icons with no spacing at the end : Programación case, that looks terrible: Now Playing on Live TV in the browser uses the bigger image available to present all available shows: In Apple TV does exactly the opposite, shrinking big images into small ones: GENRES (TV OR MOVIES): I've customized pictures for GENRES and here's how those are seen in a browser: As you can see the pictures fit perfectly the layout, in fact is a square that the interface make a round border. Original Picture uploaded to Emby is a square with no rounded corners: But this is now how it's shown in the apple TV interface, that looks terrible: In the Apple TV client, the corner rounding is done incorrectly. COLLECTIONS: Collections are perfectly shown on movies, if a movie is part of a collection the collection is displayed on the movie making easy to navigate to it: In fact, Collections split the components in Movies and TV Shows: But TV Shows does not show that are part of a Collection: And yes before you ask, the ASHOKA TV SHOW is included in the Star Wars Collection USER CHANGE: If a User is logged with EmbyConnect now it's impossible to change the user, you must logout and login with another user, in the past was possible to switch between users even one or more of them are using EmbyConnect accounts, making easy on an Apple TV to be used by multiple Emby users: CUSTOM IMAGES FOR OTHER SECTIONS (BOOKS, MUSIC VIDEOS, ETC) Whatever section that does not has an idenfication criteria to download a picture from a match identification, is presenting a wrong picture in Apple TV Client, this is an example of Books Section, here is how the authors are shown in a browser, using custom pictures: And here on the new apple tv client with most pictures appearing smaller than the space for it not fullfilling all the space available: MISSING LETTER IN THE SPANISH KEYBOARD FOR SEARCH: The Search spanish keyboard presented on screen is missing the "Ç" character, that is used in catalan (Catalan has not a unique keyboard, uses the spanish one, in fact all spanish phisical keyboard have this letter): Spanish QWERTY Keyboard layout: LATEST ADDED MEDIA SPANISH TRANSLATION: In browser the Latest added have been changed to "Lo último en XXXX" where XXXX is the section (TV Shows, Movies, Music, Books, etc), making it non masculine or femenine: But this correction have not been applied to the Apple TV client that is still using "Ultimas" The word Ultimas is fememine and fits well on Movies -> Ultimas Peliculas, but does not fit on Concerts that is masculine in spanish making it as "Ultimas Conciertos" having and inconsistency between the genere of the category and the adjective. Regarding Spanish Keyboard, it's solved, if I press the C letter appears a menu allowing Ç to be selected. Thanks 1

Generally, the cards are sized to match the greatest number of common images - so this means square, but the web app must have a logic to override this. for now I've forced them to be portrait but I need to look a bit deeper to understand why this is different to the web app.

For now I've removed this change in ATV to force them to portrait and have left them as they are in your screen. Let's review this issue after the next server update and see how they compare. 1
DarkStar1977 82 Posted April 18, 2024 Author Posted April 18, 2024 @SamESregarding collections, would it be possible to include music as well ? I'm thinking that Soundracks can have sense to be included into collections for movies or TVShows and be presented in a separate row in the Apple TV Client. BTS, looking forward, maybe will have sense on Server and web app to make the same thing than in Apple TV client, putting together the collection items by type. Example MOVIES TVSHOWS MUSIC BOOKS COMICS In fact this will help for example to not use the same image type for music, to avoid this: If we standarize the Apple TV format to server and other appliacations that splits collection elements by media type would be much easier to assign for music a different layout that does not make eyes bleed What do you think ?
Luke 38805 Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Emby for Apple TV 1.8.7 is up with a fixes for a few of the things mentioned here. 1

This one's probably up to @Luke. It really depends on whether we want the clients to include these items split into different rows and include music, etc. I can see how it could be useful but I'm not sure how common it would be for people to have such mixed collections. I don't think we would add it to ATV unless the plan was to go that way for all clients.
DarkStar1977 82 Posted April 19, 2024 Author Posted April 19, 2024 @Lukeinstalled new server version 4.8.4.0 and seen the collections grouping, 2 things: 1st, now if there's another media different than Movies and TVShows, the screen presents splited in 2 lines, and made the Movies and TVshows difficult to handle (too much scroll on big collections): Why TV Shows are not in a different row ? Would have more sense, or even better, not force to be all in one line just because there's another type of media in the collection. 2nd Other media added to collection, like books or comics are ignored and not presented in the collection.
Luke 38805 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 HI, have your issues with Emby for Apple TV 1.8.6 been resolved?
DarkStar1977 82 Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 Hi @Lukeapologies for the delay on answering but I've been out without access to my emby for apple tv. No really, not all of them are solved. Shows are still not showing that are part of a collection: And you know what I think about the "My media (small) limited to 2 rows while my media (not small) can be more useful for users that does not notice that there are more things ...
SamES 961 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I think we just need to add 'Included in' section on the Show Overview page to match the web app 1
DarkStar1977 82 Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) @Luke@SamES Additionally, the Native player is not working anymore in the latest version and the MPV has several issues with deep dark colours, here an example: Apple TV: IINA Mac Player: EMBY Web Player (Google Chrome): In the Past was possible to correct this using the Native Player but Native player is not working anymore. (In the Past): Can the native player be back again ? Or even better make the MPV to process dark images correctly. Edited June 10, 2024 by DarkStar1977

That if manually select "Native" player on client configuration nothing can be played, the app hangs on black screen when trying to play anything.
