passionwind 0 Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 I am running Emby on ReadyNAS 526x. I periodically update Emby by uploading the current .deb file via the upload button. Apparently Netgear has decided to not only stop supporting apps but they have disabled the upload function. Clicking the button gives me the following message: "App installation is no longer supported with App Upload or Available Apps." Can I update Emby by extracting the contents of the .deb file and FTPing them directly to the ReadyNAS file system? Below are the two directory trees in the update. I am not familiar with Linux and ReadyNAS does not provide a command line interface. Is this a good idea? I am open to suggestions. Thanks apps\emby-server\... usr\share\doc\emby-server
Luke 38824 Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Hi, yes, here is the explanation unfortunately: The latest ReadyNAS has removed the ability to install applications. Ouch !
passionwind 0 Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Thanks. I am never buying Netgear ever again. This unit has been nothing but problems but this is completely unacceptable. I configured a laptop to act as my Emby server for now. Thanks again for the reply.
Luke 38824 Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Thanks for the feedback. As for your original question: Quote Can I update Emby by extracting the contents of the .deb file and FTPing them directly to the ReadyNAS file system? Below are the two directory trees in the update. We haven't tried this. In theory it might work, but we just don't know.
