CaptRodwell 1
Hi, I have a setup with a large library of kids shows and my two kids have a tablet each that I download stuff to for them to watch in the car on long journeys. The problem I have is that it works for one jouney but then the next time I turn the tablet and open Emby the downloads have all vanished. I assume they have been automatically removed somehow why is this and can I stop it from happening so that I have control of when downloads are removed? There appears to be no mention in the documentation about when downloads will be removed and I can't find anything in the settings to allow me to control this behavior https://emby.media/support/articles/Offline-Access.html Apologies if I have missed something
Luke 37994
Hi, this shouldn't happen, no. Did you clear app data by any chance?

CaptRodwell 1
It's just happened again. Is there any information that I could provide that would help to figure why it is happening?
Luke 37994
Can you please provide an example? Thanks.
CaptRodwell 1
I've set some up and have turned on logging in the android app. I'll reply again when I have something to share.

I wonder if it's when the tablet gets turned on and Emby started straight away before the SD card is accessible perhaps?
Luke 37994
It's plausible. Have you noticed the files still being there when the app thinks they are not?
Atix0 0
Hello, I have the same problem. I have had this problem since Emby Server 4.8.0.0. (and 4.8.3.0 too) I use Android Emby, I download a series (unseen episodes only) and if I watch an episode offline, the next time all downloads disappear. I also download it to an external sd card. The files are also missing. Thanks for the help, Atix0
yaksplat 58
My son just told me about this same issue. He downloads a bunch of music onto his phone. He said that it's always fine until i add new music to the library, then random downloaded songs disappear. Not a whole album or artist, just a random selection. Luke 37994
Are you still able to reproduce this with new downloads?
mrb002 5
this just happened to me this morning on android as well. app data was not cleared. i checked the app data and there was ~110mb in there instead of the several GB of downloaded content. haven't had this happen before so i'm wondering if android has some new setting to "clean" up large apps. mrb002 5
when i got back to my home network, i went to the server panel, checked the Downloads tab, opened up the download list for that phone and hit save... the phone immediately started downloading again.
travisholland7 0
The same thing is happening to me as well. 1.1TB media downloaded to my Android Emby app. On day 3 of this trip, the app took a looong time to open and when it finished opening, the tablet externak storage had 1.1TB new free space. Everything gone from server Downloads list and also deleted from Android tablet. It seems anytime server loses sight of the files on the NAS, they are all deleted from download list on server, then deleted from Android app next time it launches. This is not desireable server behavior at all. Can admin create a setting on app to short circuit the deletion of all downloads if server library is missing said downloads?? The utility of the app is greatly reduced if we lose all downloads from time to time.
DJAndieK 6
This has been happening to me and my users recently also. Android app just randomly seems to be deleting downloads. A couple of days ago I was watching an episode and half way though it popped up an error cannot play video. I backed out of emby completely, relaunched it and all downloaded episodes of the show I was watching were missing.
apefray 4
@Luke I mentioned this in another thread a couple of weeks ago, but I too am losing my downloads on my android phone. Had re-downloaded the albums, but alas, when I checked again today, they have all gone again. I use my phone in the car to stream the downloads to the stereo rather than having a data connection through emby.
Terry82 1
It use to be a good feature but it seems to be happening randomly from my downloaded shows and has become unreliable for android app.
DJAndieK 6
I wonder if it's due to the latest version of the server software. I installed the latest version last week. Today I downloaded several episodes for testing and they all got deleted immediately. I played one for a minute, stopped it, then went back to the list of downloaded episodes and they were all gone except for the TV show icon and a Play button. Pressing Play gave me a playback error. DJAndieK 6
Here is my server log if it helps... I edited it to remove the local media file info though. embyserver-63850604012.txt
Cpo44 0
Hello, I had a similar problem with my Android devices. I only deleted one episode on the server (I chose a specific episode and clicked "Delete"). Then all the downloaded movies and series on all the devices disappeared (for multiple users, after reloading Emby for Android). DJAndieK 6
I think I may have found a solution. I checked the permissions for the Emby app and noticed that the permission for Photos and Video was denied. I allowed it and relaunched Emby. It seems to have fixed the problem for me so far.
Terry82 1
Unfortunately, I tried enabling all emby android app permissions a couple weeks ago and it didn't solve the problem for me.
