Just Bought Ember and it wont work

I wanted to try out ember since I saw it was the only option other than android app for camera upload.  I bought it on the Microsoft app store and installed it.  When I try to open it the application window pops up saying ember for emby then hangs for a while then crashes.  Any help troubleshooting appreciated.

I tried these things and that did not help:

 

I am not familiar with windows apps so I do not know where to look for any crash logs that might indicate what the problem is.

Yeah I've not been able to get this app to work for a number of years now. No idea why either. It launches and then crashes back to the desktop.

As far as I can tell the dev has abandoned it. Why it's still in the store . No idea.

If it doesn't work can we get it taken off the store.  I paid money for a functionless app?  Also Emby documentation should not refer to it as something that works with camera upload.

Forgot about this app.

Do you by change have this app install on same machine as server? 

As I believe UWP loopback applies.  Testing now as it connects to my server on different machine fine.

Hi.  This isn't our app so we cannot control that.

@Happy2Playno, I was running it on different PC then the one my servers was on.

Truthfully I've not tried to use ember in a really long time.

Yes UWP Loopback applies if server and app are on same machine.

Just need to get the app info Get-AppxPackage 436337*

Server is on a server in a data center.  My desktop is where I have Emby theater and ember installed and ember won't work and I don't know how to troubleshoot

Yeah just re downloaded it just to verify that it isn't working.

It loads for a few seconds and then crashes out to the desktop.

No sorry, not for quite awhile. 

The store app is from 2019. Unfortunately,  the setup fails on Win 11. 

I use a version as a main emby client on win 11 all the time. It is a kind of ugly workaround... 

So unless @7illusions decides to update  it,, I would avoid the Ember Store  app

Well at the very least maybe put a note about this in the Emby documentation that mentions the app.  I only got it to experiment with the feature Emby docs said it had.  I know it's 3rd party and I don't want compensation or anything I just hoping to ideally troubleshoot it but if I can't do that then just try and help prevent this from happening to others.

 

Side note is it confirmed that it is win11 vs win10?  Like will it work on my win10 machines?

Haven't played anything but am able to connect to server on same machine and server on different machine and navigate libraries.

Ok well I tried on win 10 and it doesn't crash but I can't seem to connect to my server with it.  I'd be happy to troubleshoot it but I doubt i will get help with that when I can't get help for win 11

The plot thickens if you can make it work on win 11.  If anyone could point me to the location of log files for it I'd happily troubleshoot my own issue to best of my ability but I can't find it.

@Happy2PlayYikes !! I was able to get it to install on my pre-release 11 ver.     same build OS build   26058.1400

@tiff1002 I am still finding issues on release builds of win 11 22631.x
