I wanted to install the latest Beta release, so I deleted the one I installed from the store, and installed the beta, but for some reason I can't unlock the app, it doesn't recognize my licence. Any ideas why?

Side loaded apps cannot access the store.  Reinstall the one from the store and restore your purchase.  Then do not uninstall it -just install the beta over it.

Sorry, I'm not sure what the issue is with installing from the store for you. Can you install other apps?

What do you mean from the store? :D I'm not installing from the store, I'm trying to install the beta version, so I'm sideloading it. And yes, I can install other apps. When I delete the app and try to install the apk it installs fine. But if I try it over the existing version, I get this.

Exactly what version is installed already and what version are you trying to install?  The new one has to have a higher version number.

Fire Stick 4k Max :D Jesus, I think I know how to install an app. :D It installs fine if I delete the one I downloaded from the store.

Hi. I'm trying to help you but we don't control the process of side-loading an app on that device so I'm not really sure why it is giving you a problem.

What version number have you sideloaded?

Bumping a slightly old topic here but in the exact same boat as OP.

AFTV Stick 4K Max 2023

Emby for Amazon Fire TV 2.0.98a installed from the Amazon App store and unlocked.

Downloaded latest Amazon beta 2.1.0.9 from here.

Sideload install fails with below error.

INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE: Package tv.emby.embyatv signatures do not match previously installed version; ignoring!

Sideloading without the app installed works but then the app cannot be unlocked.

Is sideloading over the existing App Store version going to work?

Be sure you tried the Amazon version not the Google one.

I 100% did.

The APK is app-amazon-release.apk from 3/11 at ~74mb.

so is this just not possible or is the fire tv bundle that was uploaded just incorrectly signed?

I don't know why it isn't working for you.  The package has not changed.

I though maybe this was FireOS 8 related so I tried these same steps on a 2019 Firestick 4k which is FireOS 6.3.9.6.

This resulted in the same error.

adb: failed to install /Users/ryan/Downloads/app-amazon-release.apk: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE: Package tv.emby.embyatv signatures do not match the previously installed version; ignoring!]

I extracted the bundle from the FireTV with adb and ran apksigner on both it and the downloaded one. I could be off base here but I don't think they match?

Very strange because they're both generated with the same process.
