Hi all, is there a possibility to trigger the embyserver library updates with the Kodi emby next gen add on.

Not for a complete library, but for items via context menu -> Emby: refresh items.

To what reason ever the realtime controll on my emby server does not work and I always have go to emby, scheduled task and execute library update manual.

Schedule sync if realtime updates not working.

Sounds like an issue with Emby server.  Post a log in the appropriate section of the forum (Synolgy, etc) and maybe someone can take a look.

Having a bad time trying to install this on the latest osmc. Used to have nextgen 10 on kodi 20 and it worked great, but they've now updated to 21. Started with a fresh install of osmc. First problem, script modules are not there, so, dependency errors. Loaded up six and dateutil and that got it running. So, now, I can't see any dynamic content! If I look in the logs, I see this:

Thanks for looking into this. Interesting. Well, I'll check it again when I go back to 11.X. Yesterday, I've reinstalled the device using CE 21.1.1 stable and 10.0.47 to see whether I could reproduce the playback glitches. And I could. Have started a discussion with the CE team to see what they make out of the debug log (at least once I can upload it there... seems difficult at the moment). For the time being I'll keep the device on CE stable and emby-for-kodi-next-gen stable. Once the playback glitches have been sorted out, I'll move back to 11.X.

Thanks @quickmic😀

The log-uploading there still doesn't work. However, I've been reproducing this quite a few times, and browsed through the logs. I found a recurring thing, and posted it directly in their forum. Now, the discussion (well, monologue at the moment) has been moved to a Kodi/Add-On area (https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/emby-unknown-remote-behaviour/52752).

Just as an FYI, here's today's log snippet (debug log from CE/Kodi).

Hello,

I have installed the Emby server on a Synology with DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6 and emby-server-synology7_4.9.0.30_x86_64.spk.

Kodi zdmc-20.2_rtk.apk is installed on a Zidoo media server. Everything works and the Emby database is read without any problems.

On a PC with Windows 11 23H2 Kodi 20.2 runs with plugin.service.emby-next-gen-10.0.47.zip and the 3 other plugin.****.emby-next-gen-10.1.1.zip.
Previously, Kodi had no problems reading data from Emby on the PC either.
After the last updates server or Emby.****:zip unfortunately the message appears after the start:
‘Emby for Kodi Next Gen (Dein Zugang zu Emby ist eingeschränkt) Your access to Emby is restricted’

Attached is the kodi.log file.

Can anyone help? What is the problem?

Thank you and best regards

Did you try a reconnect to Emby server? The log is fine beside the 401 unauthorized message.

I am finding my Emby for Kodi Add-on "forgets" the Emby URL every time Kodi reboots. This started some months ago, but I can't say if it was after a specific software update or not.

I see ServerUnreachable but it's because of an "empty ServerUrl"

Kodi shows all of my media as if nothing is wrong (since it's all synced) but when I attempt to play anything, I get something like this:

2024-10-13 13:07:41.725 T:1035     info <general>: VideoPlayer::OpenFile: /emby_addon_mode/tvshows/1a519c4...

Indeed, if I go into the "service" add-on, there is no way to "repair" or "update" any of the libraries since it can't see any of them.

What I need to do is add a "new" Emby server and after doing that, I see the messages about logging in and syncing up. I can then do any type of library sync or update or repair or anything else, since it now knows where the Emby server is.

This isn't a super pressing issue since it requires Kodi to reboot to trigger and Kodi needs rebooting only every few months... but I'd like to it fixed, nevertheless.

Any thoughts on what I can try?

Check is this folder exists and delete it:

...kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.emby-next-gen

After that re-login to emby server.

Check if you have a higher version than plugin.video.emby-next-gen-10.1.1 installed and downgrade.

Other option, you can upgrade to 11.X and see is this solves the problem.

Thanks. Looks like I do not have the top path and my plugin.video.emby-next-gen is exactly 10.1.1.

I will try 11.x -- appears I will need to update LibreElec first since 11.x requires a newer Kodi than I have. Wish me luck!

I upgraded to LibreElec 12 with Kodi 21; tweaked the Embruary config to allow that to be recognized as a skin in Kodi 21; updated all of the plugins; switched to the latest public testing version of emby-next-gen 11.x; did a factory reset... and it worked! Some combination of the above now permits my server URL to be properly saved between reboots.

Thank you!

Hi @quickmic, I'm stuck and could use a suggestion on troubleshooting....

Migrating from older Synology box (DSM 7.1 update 6) to new box (DSM 7.2 update 1). I've reset kodi's addon and changed server, added library that was setup the same(best as I can tell) on Emby with the same smb and nfs permissions (I think)... not great with DSM or CoreElec (the client). Library adds fine, but playback of anything results in the dreaded "file no longer exists" message...

I'm pretty sure its a permissions problem but for the life of me can't find anything different between the servers in either users, groups, shared folders on synology or anything different in the path substitution on the Emby server.... I've tested in a browser and get access (on a pc so not a valid check I suppose of permissions)...

Kind of at a loss. Any thoughts? Does E4k use some alternate user or "emby" as the server does?, or is there some other area you can think of to check? I can't figure out how to attach logs. CoreElec's Kodi is not easy to get logs from if your a dummy like me....

Sounds you use native mode?

Upload a kodi.log, and I'll check it. Actually you can see the path Kodi expects the playback file, and I assume it's simply wrong.

Hello. I use the ff. setup:

Emby server on a Windows PC connected to a local network, with videos spread out among several folders and drives, with each video having its own folder; and

Emby-addon in a Kodi, in an Android media player connected to the same local network.

I also bought the Emby Android app and installed it in the media player. (I use Kodi because its smart playlists feature is easier to use.)

The metadata in NFO and jpegs are stored in the same folders as the videos;

I exit Kodi and the server, and then move several folders from one drive to another.

I run the server, and re-scan the library.

I run Kodi, and let the add-on re-scan the libraries as usual.

Some videos show up as duplicates, with their old and new location.

In the Emby web view and the Android app, there are no duplicates.

Why are there duplicates in the add-on but not in the web view and Android app?

Thank you for your help.

Do you use addon or native mode in the plugin?

Can you please try 11.X and check if this happens there too.

Thank you. I use the default mode. I will try version 11.X, and when I move some more files again, I will see what happens and tell you.

Thank you. I've moved files twice, and there are no more problems.

I came to post the same issue, then noticed the new update.  This always worked in the past, but then in the last update or two, it stopped working and anytime I moved something (doing the proper scans in Emby Server and verifying in the Web Page). It would not update in Kodi.

For example, today I removed a TV series from Library A.  I then rescanned the library and the series disappeared in the Web Page (as expected) for Emby.

I waited a few minutes, then I fired up Kodi, it connected to the server, got the normal Welcome... message and the scanning message.  It picked up on a few new episodes of other shows, then finished its scan.  I waited a minute, went into TV Shows and low and behold the show I deleted was still there, including the cover art for the main show. Going into, showed the seasons with no cover art and of course trying to watch an episode gave the "file not found" error.

I will update to the new version now...but whenever I update, I do a full library scan so it will be all good for sure after that anyway.

I just wanted to pass this along for your information @quickmicjust in case.  This has been happening for like I said at least the last update and maybe the one before that...but I did not have time to mess with it...I would just rescan.

Thanks.

I can't seem to get the userrating field to be populated in the kodi database. Diving into the code, it looks like the field CriticRating is not being tagged to Kodi as userrating. It seems to only be set as rating tomatometerallcritics.

Any way you can update to populate the userrating field? I'm trying to use it for showing the rottentomatoes score from Emby.

The userrating is a Kodi feature and not part of Emby). It makes no sense to map rottentomatoes ratings as Kodi's userratings.

I installed the "Kodi Companion" plugin on my Emby server to deal with syncing deleted content.
