I have updated the app since that I get stuck in loading black screen with emby logo

 

Tried reinstall it without success 

 

I don't know if the update is related to compatibility to newer webos version I am still on a mid 2023 webos version because the TV is jailbreak

OK well it certainly could be creating variables that we aren't aware of. Are you able to try factory resetting it?

I don't want to reset my tv and loose my root it isn't a option im certain that isn't related to its only a root access on stock firmware emby was working right before the update

i can also provides somes logs of the tv since it root but not aware how to look for emby specified

Maybe a reboot apparently webos don't delete anything until a hard reboot so when I Uninstalled it didn't do anything 2 first time

I have the exact same issue.

I have an older LG OLED55B7A

Software Version 06.10.30 - which is the latest. - the TV does not find anything newer

I have unfortunately updated my Emby to 1.0..41.

Running Version 4.8.1.0 on my PC.

When launching the app, it shows the emby loading screen for 2 seconds, then it shows a black screen with the emby logo and that is it. It remains stuck in there. not matter how long I wait.

Have deleted the app, installed it again; one time it worked after reinstall - had to enter my local server address and password and it worked until I turned off the TV

next day did not want to start again.

reinstalled the app, however nothing.

pulled the plug on the TV for 20s, re-powered it, nothing.

 

Is there a way to get back the old version? - which worked well, until the pesky update notification came up.

 

As a side note:

the EMBY app is 33.5Mb

the install space on my TV is 34.2 MB - where I have deleted every app that I could. nothing else to delete.

Also, on my software version there is no clear cache menu.

Please let me know if there is a solution - can I have the older version to install with an USB stick?

I have unfortunately updated my Emby to 1.0..41.

Running Version 4.8.1.0 on my PC.

When launching the app, it shows the emby loading screen for 2 seconds, then it shows a black screen with the emby logo and that is it. It remains stuck in there. not matter how long I wait.

If you have webos software you can use webos dev tool (require dev mode enabled) to install a ipk of the emby but need the ipk

For me to fix had to uninstall emby and hard reboot while the app is uninstalled

Make sure you're actually deleting/uninstalling it, not just removing the sortcut from the app ribbon

Update on my case:

Story 1:

uninstall the app

remove power > 1minute

power back on

install emby app

app opens OK

power off tv from remote

power on

emby - stuck on loading screen

- I assume that hard reboot is - remove the AC power for more than 1 minute

So your advice did not work for me

 

Story 2:

if I uninstall the app and reinstall it and open it: it works - I have to reenter my data and I can stream movies from my PC

after I re-install the app, if I turn the TV off and on again, the app will freeze.

even if I install the app without entering it for the first time to enter my data, turn the tv off/on, the emby app will still freeze.

The only time it starts is right after I reinstall it without power cycling the TV.

Are both connecting to a local or remote server?  

Are you using a username and password locally, or using Emby Connect to login?

I've got the exact same problem since the app update. WebOS version 5.50.15 (no root).

Local server, not Emby Connect.

Edit: ok if force close the app (long hold home to get running background apps) then it starts. Seems to work after power cycle too.

So does the issue only occur when the TV is switched off with the app running, then you turn the TV back on?

What happens if when it doesn't work, you load another app (ie: Netflix) then go back and try and load Emby?

I am having this exact issue as well, when i go to launch emby it starts with the black screen with the emby logo in the middle then just hangs. However, if i browse through the LG content store for it and launch it from there it starts with the graphical page with emby logo then changes to the black screen and loads ok.

Hope this helps some people with a workaround until its fixed.

Only thing I can do is reinstall to make it open.

Model no: 49sj810v

App version: 1.0.41

When turning the tv on, and opening the app it gets past the "futuristic tv setup" image and gets to the black screen with the emby logo en thats where it sits.

When uninstalled and reinstalled it boots right up, sign in ok and can do anything its supposed to.

Rebooting the television howerver locks the app back up and it needs to be reinstalled in order to function propperly.

=> Opening via the store without reinstalling didn't work for me though ...

==> Switching to another app and relaunching doesn't do it either. Black screen with logo.

Looking forward to a solution.

exact same thing
tried force closing the app, by holding the return button; when opening it up again it just freezes

tried to open it from the LG content store - still nothing - freezes

- I have no other Netflix or other apps - I just switch to an HDMI port (with Roku on it) or open the emby app

described it earlier with Story 1 and Story2.
 

 

Have also tried powering off my PC - no more local server; emby still freezes on my TV when loading.

The only time when it opens is after re-install + open app; If it worked once, I can exit the app and re-enter with success. As soon as I soft turn off the TV and ON again, it will freeze the next time. Tried turning off the TV while in the app and while I switched to the HDMI port.

Nothing seems to work other than reinstalling it every time.

Just wanted to add, my device is not rooted.

Software version: 06.10.30 (all updates applied)

Hello everyone.

Same too with app 1.0.41, on LG model 28TL520S (firmware 06.10.35 latest and WebOS 3.9.2-63010). Non rooted.

Previous versión of app works perfectly.

Maybe disable quickstart+ in settings could be a fix
