13rennon 2 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 (edited) Hey @Luke Sorry to necro a really old post but I'm actually having the the same issue again with the latest few versions of OpenSubtitles. It seems the search is completely ignoring episode information/metadata and only searching based on the file name. Most of my library is organized as \Show name (2000)\Season 1\S01E01.mkv and for any of these files I get zero results on subtitle searches. Movies, and the odd TV show that does have at least the episode name in the title seem to search fine. Any thoughts? Edited February 8, 2024 by 13rennon words
Luke 39319 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 @13rennonhi there, let's look at a specific example: How to Report a Problem Thanks.
13rennon 2 Posted February 8, 2024 Author Posted February 8, 2024 (edited) It appears that any files that are using "S##E##' format will not return OpenSubtitles results, but files that include at least the name of the episode or series title will return results. This doesnt affect Addic7ed as far as I can tell. It's as if the OpenSubtitles plugin does not factor the metadata for the episode and searches exclusaively based on the file name. For example: \TV Shows\Berserk (1997)\Season 1\S01E01.mp4 -- This episode will not return any results from OpenSubtitles despite confirming there are hits on the OpenSubtitles.com site. \TV Shows\Workaholics (2011)\Season 1\Workaholics.S01E01.1080p.WEBDL.x264-HiQVE.mkv -- This episode will return results from OpenSubtitles. I'm not sure which logs would be helpful for this sort of issue but am happy to provide something else if the one I included is not what you're after. embyserver.txt Edited February 8, 2024 by 13rennon
13rennon 2 Posted February 9, 2024 Author Posted February 9, 2024 (edited) Today it seems it's not searching with OpenSubtitles for the same files it worked with yesterday, but still working for movies and some select TV Shows. I have no idea what's going on at this point. Edited February 9, 2024 by 13rennon correction
GoldenSpider 12 Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 I also am having similar issues with subtitles and automatic subtitles downloads. Could this have anything to do with opensubtitles switching their domain (from .net to .com happened fairly recently) but for me it fails as well even with episodes that do have the name of the episode and have S#E#

eRVeeMoskovic 0 Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Hi, coming from here: Is there something we need to change to our filenames?
13rennon 2 Posted February 21, 2024 Author Posted February 21, 2024 I had this exact issue in the past and it was fixed with an update to the OpenSUbtitles plugin, but this was years ago. As far as I understand, you shouldn't have to worry about the filenames if the series/episodes are identified with some sort of scraper (IMDB / TVDB etc) and it uses that metadata for the search. It seems pretty clear to me that the issue here is that it's only searching with the file name, instead of that metadata, which is why I only get results for shows/movies where the file name includes the title.
13rennon 2 Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 As of Emby v4.8.3.0 + OpenSubtitles v1.0.54 this issue still persists.

13rennon 2 Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 Any idea how I would I fix the IMDb ID? Refresh/replace metadata?
Happy2Play 9292 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Okay that is American Dad but id drops the leading zero American Dad! (TV Series 2005– ) - IMDb (tt0397306) So currently not finding the rogue queries you showed above.
13rennon 2 Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 I think refreshing metadata might have fixed it. 1 1
