Manyber@gmail.com 1 Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I've recently migrated my Emby server from an old Win10Pro to a new Win11Pro system. Emby Connect worked fine with the old server. But now I receive an "Unable to reach server. We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." If I click on the three dots on the server-name/IP in Emby Connect, then click on View Server Info, I can connect to my server outside my home network by using the Remote (WAN) Address shown. Anyone know how I can clear up this error? 1

Luke 38830 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 HI, maybe that entry that you're seeing is the old server? Did you setup Emby Connect on the new server? Emby Connect
Manyber@gmail.com 1 Posted December 31, 2023 Author Posted December 31, 2023 I would assume it's not the old server. I gave the new server a different IP on my internal network, which is what shows when I sign into Emby Connect.
js28194 21 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 So on the internal LAN, you would not use Emby Connect as all devices should self discover. Since you gave it a new IP, maybe a port forwarding issue on your router for remote clients that use Emby Connect?
Manyber@gmail.com 1 Posted December 31, 2023 Author Posted December 31, 2023 I am aware to not use Emby Connect on my internal network. That is not being done. The pair of ports for http and https documented by Emby, I'd have to look them up when im next at a pc, have been added to port forwardind on my router. I am able to connect to the server remotely by IP. Error is received when using Emby Connect remotely.

Usually the old server needs to be manually deleted.

Manyber@gmail.com 1 Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 I guess I'm confused on that question. Can provide info on how to do that? I'll check my settings, confirm its done or update them?
Zhalianna 2 Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 (edited) following, as i have followed previous suggestions and recommendations on here to get things moving, but can't get emby connect to work and keep getting same error as well. even created a new server with a new name, went back to my old route, port forwarding all set.... curious to know how to set up emby connect on new server as well..., cause it is already initiated on my server, which is how it showed up automatically in my emby connect Edited January 1, 2024 by Zhalianna
Zhalianna 2 Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 For OP, I wanted to edit and add that I ended up making a new emby connect account, with a different email and for w.e reason that one worked. Wish that was not the route to take given its my professional email, but maybe that will work for you as well. @luke, do you have any insight as to why it will work with one email but not the other?
pwhodges 1743 Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Have you tried deleting the Connect email address for the user, saving, then adding it (the same address) again? That re-establishes the link with the server. Paul
Manyber@gmail.com 1 Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 I have deleted all my accounts except a local admin account. I created a new Emby Connect account and created a new account for remote access on my server. No change. I receive the same error after logging into Emby Connect and clicking on the server in the menu. If I click on the three dots on the server in the Emby Connect menu, then click on Server Info, I can copy and paste the remote (wan) address into a new web browser and I'm connected to the server.
Manyber@gmail.com 1 Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 Grasping at straws... When I migrated to the new server, after installing Emby Server on the new system, I copied the media files (music, videos) and the data from C:\users\[username[\appdata\roaming\Emby-Server from the old system to the new system. Is it possible that copying the appdata caused this problem? Like do I need a new Emby Premier key for the new server?
pwhodges 1743 Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 You can use your key on multiple servers (note that the usage counts are aggregated). Paul
