I did a search and didn't find a similar feature request—I may just not be searching with the correct terms so forgive the duplication—but one thing I've been thinking about, as I'm deduplicating my music collection, is that it would be really nice if there was a way to create a "virtual" track (à la a symlink in *nix land) in an album.  Here's a use case:

  • I have the first album by band XYZ
  • I purchase a "best of XYZ" compilation that is remastered and/or at a higher quality, so I remove the duplicate tracks from the first album

While I have the all of the songs, there's not a way to show them all on the first album, short of creating a playlist.

That said, it'd be great if I could somehow link the tracks from the compilation album to the original album.

HI, in theory it's possible, but sounds complex. This is exactly what playlists are made for though.

Yeah, and I've done that for some albums, but playlists are in a separate area, so it's not quite as convenient.
