Im very new to emby and I'm trying to make the hardware acceleration work (possibly always), without which most of my library buffers a lot in a way its unwatchable. When I enable hardware acceleration, nvidia gpu is not used even if I select it explicitly. I made sure my nvidia drivers are upto date. Im on Ubuntu 22.04.3.

I have tried enabling only nvidia options and also with the others. I did restart the emby server everytime I changed the settings, I even did restarted the system every time I changed settings in the end. I tried it with the CUVID option as well.

Even with this selected, the decoder being used was VAAPI,

Am I missing something or doing something wrong? Let me know if more info is needed.

Lets try to narrow this down:

  • Try playing the same file without subtitle selection
    (and post the ffmpeg log)
  • Try playing a different file which is not an HDR file

Thanks!

Hey, I decided to install Emby beta in the mean time and it worked! Im on the latest beta version and haven't faced the issue anymore. I tried to go back to main version thinking if the fix is just because of a re-install but I was unable to do say, the server wouldn't start, due to some major config changes may be I guess. But I think its the re-install that fixed it
