[Feature Request] Specify server photo upload folder per user NOT devi

Since every Iphone is called 'iphone' upload per device is not useful. I know I can rename a device, but when a new Emby client version comes out the server will re-discover the device as 'iphone' again.

And it just makes more sense by user doesn't it?

A typical family using Emby probably all use android or iphone, So in the current method My, My Wifes, and My Mother-In-Laws photos all wind up in the same place.
I'd like **MY** photos to be separate from my Wifes and my Mother-in-law.

There was a post requesting this but it was closed as a duplicate, It's not a duplicate :)

This Feature request (closed as a duplicate): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/116559-camera-default-upload-folder-per-user/#comment-1229128 is asking for what I'd like - The ability for the SERVER to store the photos from my phone in a folder based on my Emby user

This Feature request (the request cited as the same as the duplicate above): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/77972-intuitive-camera-upload/#comment-791584 Was ALSO closed as a duplicate

BOTH of these feature requests had an ask that the SERVER folder could be different per USER - or better yet a path that uses both user and device.

Both of the OPEN feature requests are allowing you to choose what folders and or photos on the CLIENT will be uploaded to the server

Hi, actually this isn't true. What happened is that starting with iOS 16, a new permissions request is required to get the custom device name, and so far, we haven't added that. But wouldn't that also solve this?

thanks Luke - So the behavior has changed since iOS 16? thats great.

Yes I would think that getting the device name would be a better solution than the current method. But, as long as it doesn't re-discover it the current method will suffice. :)

One other question from working with this yesterday - My Ipdad and Iphone seem to show up as the same device now? Which is fine, just wondering if that is the expected behavior since they both got on IOS 16

actually as I think about this it would really need to be a path like this: embyusername/devicename to avoid different users from uploading the same place..
