app.emby.media doesn't work. I can log in and it'll show my localip:port, but I am unable to connect to the server.

Local-ip:port works, my wan-ip:port works, and emby server gives me a different wan-ip:port that also works. Is there a way to get app.emby.media working so I don't need to remember or give a specific IP address out?

App.emby.media is just a hosted web app, as opposed to Local Web app - what does not work? Connecting through Emby Connect or connecting manually? Have you linked your local user with Connect account?

Hi, it seems to be working just fine in my testing. What exactly happens when you try to connect?

Signing in gets me a screen with my server (pointing to local-ip:port), add server, or sign in with emby connect (which I'm already signed in). Clicking my server gives me the error:

We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again.

I'm unable to add my server via the two wan-ip's that I have.

Have you configured your server for Remote Setup ?

This is not done automatically for you, and you must set this up in order to receive remote connections.

When I go to that page and enable UPnP / NAT-PMP on my router, it correctly lists the ports/IP of my emby server. However, app.emby.media still does not work.

Once upon a time app.emby.media used to work. usually don't use it on a browser/am logged into an app so I never check. Because both wan ip's resolve, remote configuration does work. I just don't feel like remembering or looking up the WAN IP from the app if I need it.

@ben61694I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter:

Connectivity

Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !

Everything on that guide works... I have no issues with accessing my emby server either remotely or locally, my ports are forwarded properly and I can access it from both inside and outside of my network.

What I have issues is with app.emby.media. It does NOT connect to my server and does not allow me to add a connection to resolve the server. This means that I will have to remember and type my remote IP and port when I want to access it outside of my network. app.emby.media used to work a long time ago, but it no longer does and I'm not sure why.

For what it's worth I'm on the latest emby beta.

I will also note that when I sign in to emby connect, apparently I have the option to sign in again despite seeing my server that I can't connect to. I removed the server and am unable to add it back to app.emby.media.

Is your Emby server running plain HTTP or is it secured with SSL and running on HTTPS?

You need to use the appropriate URL prefix for app.emby.media

eg. https://app.emby.media if your server is properly secured (Remote Address on dashboard)

Use http:// if it is not.

This is the answer actually. Going to "app.emby.media" resolves to https://app.emby.media on the back end but shows up as "app.emby.media" without an http or https.

So if I type in http://app.emby.media, it'll allow me to log in to the right place. Well... I guess this is a friendly reminder that I need to fix my SSL too.

Thanks for the help!
