JPgruenewald 8 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Support of a tagging system with which you can add your own tags to media files. So you could generate/sync a playlist from a certain tag name. In particular, it would be interesting w.r.t. the proposal from this thread that you can display all tags associated with a song as information in a table view. Some background information: I want to work with music files and thus I want to see how songs are connected to different "playlists".
Solution Luke 41263 Posted July 17, 2023 Solution Posted July 17, 2023 Hi, we’re already have this feature and you can add tags to just about anything using the metadata editor. 1
Spaceboy 2566 Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 emby has a tagging system. its not great for useability but its there and you can tag everything. the problem you have is it seems that currently, the only media type that doesnt display or really allow the use of tags, is music 1
JPgruenewald 8 Posted July 18, 2023 Author Posted July 18, 2023 Thanks @Lukefor your help. It did the job. But as @Spaceboymentioned, the usability/visibility could be improved. Should I post my suggestions for improvement here in this thread or should I close this thread and create a new one?

dma_k 2 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Dear all, Is it possible to create tags from app on Android mobile phone? I didn't find any metadata editor. Does search support AND'ing of tags? For example, how can I express that both tags are present e.g. "#italy #best"? Is it possible to add "Tags" section directly to top/side menu with all listed tags under it to quickly navigate across tagged media files? Is "Overview" metadata textfield indexed? Can I combine search by tag with a search in any other text field e.g. "#italy short run", where "short run" is searched in titles and overview? Many thanks!

Luke 41263 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Quote Is it possible to add "Tags" section directly to top/side menu with all listed tags under it to quickly navigate across tagged media files? Hi, I think this is a good idea, but probably not by default. As soon as we have settings to control what shows up there, then yes I think we can put tags there.

Luke 41263 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 HI, you need to make your user an admin user, or sign in with an admin user, and then Edit Metadata will be available.

I think this is limitation. In my opinion the user should be able to tag his media and see / search his tags. What is your idea when Emby limits tagging only to admins? There could be (for example) another security role for that action, e.g. "Tag editor" in user's settings.

Namely if tag is created by one user, if will be "visible" by another user. But I think that for small group of people (e.g. small team or family) that is just fine, as maybe even it is great to share tags between each other. Hence I suggest to add another security role e.g. "Editor", which, if enabled, allows the user to edit media metadata (e.g. add custom tags). 1
Luke 41263 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Hi, yes that is an idea that has come up before and is a likely possibility. Thanks.
