Guest Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) Hi, I do not know whether this is even feasible with the given possibilities. But it would be a real cool feature in my eyes to have the ability of streaming the same (audio) content to different DLNA and/or Chromecast Devices in different rooms. That would give you the ability of a cheap multiroom audiosystem. I know that it is "theoretically" makeable with DLNA (Look here for an example: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=78431) I think most developers won't implement it because you have a different delay and therefore asynchronous Music playback on different devices with different Hard- and Software. But maybe you could make it possible to integrate a way to adjust the music sync manually for different devices? As I said. Would be a realy realy cool feature IMHO What did the rest of you guys think about that? I'm realy interested in your opinion Edited October 22, 2014 by CM000n
Cheesegeezer 3096 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 This has been covered before, unfortunately it is very difficult to achieve accurately due to different hardware. Sonos have achieved it but you have to buy all of their hardware for multiroom. It may be possible for a very crude version but the audio delay between rooms would probably annoy most people, or would require intensive setups to get it right. Great idea but the execution is very difficult from a coders side.
Guest Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Yes, I've almost thought that. If it was easy the function would be probably already available for several systems :-D But maybe anyone has sometime even enough boredom that he (or she) try to develop it ;-) I have also tried the Logitech Media Server in combination with the Squeezebox plugin for XBMC some time ago. The playback works very well and was synchron on different Computers and Laptops. But the XBMC plugin is very ugly and not really functional imho. So I have not used it further. Thus, I continue to hope for a comfortable and affordable multiroom solution :-)
