lordbond 2
I am unable to get the new app to connect to my server remotely.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, direct to the IP address, with and without HTTP:// and nothing seems to work. I can get it to work in the browser but not on my Surface Pro 2 tablet. I am getting the hostname not recognized error. I can go to a command prompt and ping my name and it comes back ok. fuzzy11287 5
I have three different log files, 1 and 2 are from a tablet connecting to the server via local network on wifi. 7illusions 1249
Ok. I assumed it was on the same machine as you said you'd enabled the loop back except. Does it work with the web client from the SP3? Also, when you enter the manual config, can you get me a log of what's happening then?
mickhilton909 0
Ok. I assumed it was on the same machine as you said you'd enabled the loop back except. Does it work with the web client from the SP3? Also, when you enter the manual config, can you get me a log of what's happening then? Ah yeah sorry about that, think i was just clutching at straws when i resorted to the loopback except. I can log on using the web client just fine. This is my log if i try and connect manually through the windows store app on the surface. lordbond 2
I am still getting the "hostname not recognized" error message on the 11/21 version of the app. I am trying to connect over the internet. I have not tried connecting when I am on my home network yet. When I try to go to http://my.host.name:8096 using a web browser I get Bad Request (Invalid host)If I type http://my.host.name:8096/mediabrowser I get the media browser page.  I am using a Surface Pro
7illusions 1249
What do you enter in the app? Do you enter  http://my.host.name:8096 or just  my.host.name (the later being the correct value) Also, can you please provide a app-log fromwhen the app fails to connect? Thanks

MoNkLorD 0
I'm getting the same exact error, except that mine sees my server from the local IP but when I hit connect it does nothing. I tried to reinstall the app but still getting the same problem.  I believe this problem started with this last update. Any ideas?
MoNkLorD 0
MBS is running on server 2008 R2 the app is running on my tablet windows 8.1 pro with windows media center.  The app doesn't detect any servers I’ve tried manually entering and using the server name, IP address, and local host. With no success.  I can see the web browser locally (LAN) and externally (WAN)  I’ve installed media browser classic on the same tablet and it connects without a problem  My windows phone connects without a problem.  It’s just the app for the last couple of updates stopped detecting the server and started giving me an error of "host name not recognized. Please check the name and try again". All previous versions worked fine.  I have also tried with the firewall disabled.  I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it.  Same error message every time.  All other devices connect using the server name, IP address, localhost, or the domain name without a problem. This problem
mickhilton909 0
Think i have made some progress. Decided to re install the app from the app store again and it connected to my server ok, by clicking on the detected server anyway. Media browser connect still shows invalid credentials. Started having a play and hit the change server button, on trying to login with same detected server button nothing happened again, app broken once again so tried a reinstall  and restart and bingo, app is working again. All folders are working but if i go into live tv the app crashes to desktop.
lordbond 2
I have tried my.host.name:8096 and my.host.name and neither one connect. Where are the logs that you need located at?
7illusions 1249
You can havea look in this folder: %AppData%\Local\Packages\436337Illusions.com.MediaBrowser_77hd5e1v1hqs4\LocalState\MetroLogs where "_77hd5e1v1hqs4" could maybe be something different on your machine
