TXK57 36 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Is there a way for the 4k and standard def versions to default combine instead of defaulting to split? They are two folders but in the same library and by default they are creating as split items instead of a grouped version. On this same topic if there is a grouped version of the movies can you still have coverart tag it with 4k if there is a 4k movie in there?
Luke 38825 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Hi there, how are your files named and organized?

TXK57 36 Posted February 15, 2023 Author Posted February 15, 2023 I'm using the following format since I run plex and emby and ran off plex's naming for versions. Maybe I will swap this over to your naming convention Current Layout: /movies /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006).1080p.mkv /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006).1080p {edition-Extended Edition}.mkv /movies4k /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006).4k.mkv /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006).4k {edition-Extended Edition}.mkv Your Layout /Movies /300 (2006) /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p.mkv /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p-trailer.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 4K.mkv /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 720p.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - extended edition.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - directors cut.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 3D.hsbs.mp4 If I set my naming like this it should combine? Will emby care if it is { vs [ /movies /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) - Bluray-1080p.mkv /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) - Bluray-1080p-Extended Edition.mkv /movies4k /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) - 4k /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) - 4k-Extended Edition.mkv
Happy2Play 9140 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 If you do not want to use the naming rule you have can use the plugin. As your example will not work do to the rule and can't be in different folders. Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ". 1 1
TXK57 36 Posted February 15, 2023 Author Posted February 15, 2023 Thank you, this should definitely be on the feature requests for multi folder support if it is in the same library.

Don't follow as same folder works if you follow the only rule. Sorry misread but multi folder separation just doesn't follow the rules so the plugin was made to archive anything anywhere. This does not as file name does not match folder name. /movies /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) - Bluray-1080p.mkv /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) - Bluray-1080p-Extended Edition.mkv Need to be this /movies /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} - Bluray-1080p.mkv /300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449}/300 (2006) {imdb-tt0416449} - Bluray-1080p-Extended Edition.mkv Edited February 16, 2023 by Happy2Play

I have never tested have multivesion of two different qualities in different folder but in theory it should group in /movies and group in /movies4k with correct naming. As for the additional hyphen and spacing if I remember correctly will cause issue.
Happy2Play 9140 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 (edited) In a test yes multiversion in one folder and multiversion in another folder (different libraries) maintain their separation while grouping the items within that folder. If in same library the they will not group movie and movie4k media as they are different folders. If you want all 4 version to show in one entire you need the plugin. Also the addiitional space on second hyphen did not matter in my test. Edited February 16, 2023 by Happy2Play
TXK57 36 Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 Sounds good, thank you! I will get this installed tonight.
TXK57 36 Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 (edited) I haven't gone through every movie yet, but at quick glance it looks like this plugin did what it should. I didn't have to rename anything either which is fantastic! Now, is there a way to have cover art plugin put the 4k banner on the movie if it has a 4k version merged in? Are you able to use the metro case and rounded? or should I do the rounded through custom css? Edited February 16, 2023 by TKX57

AFAIK nope, only if 4K item was imported first. Anyway @ebr might provide an exact answer to that. In the meantime, you could try removing all other versions of that movie from your collection, scan media library, return them, scan again, see whether 4K CoverArt will stick.

Well, this just keeps getting more and more challenging, lol. I will wait for a reply, to see if there is anything that can be done. If not I can always manually add it. When I have some free time I will start playing with the api and get this scripted.

Just refreshing the item, replacing images, should do it. 1

Thank you, I figured it out, it only works if you do all movies. I had it just set for the 4k library. I wish there was a way you could just do the 4k. Not really interested in flagging the rest with cases.

Yes, but if you have a merged movie it doesn't seem to work. I have 4k movies in a folder and 1080 down in another folder. I have it merged so it displays as one movie. If I have CoverArt set to do the 4k movie library only it will not apply on a merged movie. If I split so it shows as two then yes it works. Let me know if you think there is a setting I'm missing.
RanmaCanada 418 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Most of us just keep our 4k libraries separate as it allows us to keep transcoding and tonemapping to a minimum, specially when it comes to DV files and people who are clueless about their playback requirements.

This way permission wise I can block it. However, having duplicates when you are searching through movies seems silly unless it was a different version. However, grouping everything even versions under that one movie I think is fantastic. Then you pop the movie up and pick which version you want to play.
