Emby migration: docker to native

I m currently running Emby version 4.6.4.0 inside Docker on Synology version 7.0.41890.

I would like to eliminate the Docker component, and run the native Emby app that is found in the Synology package.

For movies and TV shows, the metadata is in the save folders.

For music and books, it is in the Mysql database.

My libraries are huge.

Does anyone have experience with this type of migration and if so what can I expect?

Forget this message. I found it.

Hi Luke,

In packages, I'm not finding Server Configuration Backup plugin.

I have a premiere account.

Is the plugin still available?

I am also trying to do the same thing and the link Luke shared has one piece of important information missing (for someone dense, like me).

I have backups but I can't figure out where I am supposed to move the docker files. I have not changed any settings in Emby 4.7.0 install (so it is using default paths) but I have no access to anything related to the Emby package in my shared folder.

Where/how do I access the default locations for importing my old settings?

Sorry to jump into this thread (hopefully I am not derailing)

EDIT:

I think I figured it out. I forgot that I have done this before (Didn't properly configure my backup location in Emby Backup plugin).

Hi Luke,

I'm stuck on trying to backup the configuration.

While a notification box pops up saying "Setting Saved" (See attached screen shot), no backup shows.

I have also attached the log file.

Would appear the path does not exist.

	System.IO.FileNotFoundException: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Path not found
	File name: '/Movies2/EmbyConfigBackup'

System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path '/Movies2/EmbyConfigBackup01'.

I put in a Folder that I know is wrong.  (/Movies2/EmbyConfigBackupXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) See screenshot #1

A popup says: the path could not be found........   (See ScreenShot #2)

I put in /Movies   which  is the path for my movies as shown in Screenshot #3, and it still doesn't wok

HI, does this folder already exist when you tried it?

Yes, /Movies already exists.   It is the library where I keep my movies, and the path \Movies is the folder for my movies in Emby.

But does that subfolder /Movies2/EmbyConfigBackupXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX exist?

It doesn't exist. I put in a folder that doesn't exist just to make sure that Emby validates the folder before proceeding.

Emby validates the folder and if it does not exist, it pops up the message "The path  can not be found." as seen in screenshot #2.

For /Movies, I did not get the popup message, so the path /Movies exists.

And yet, when I put in /Movies as the path and click on the green save button,   the message pops up "Settings Saved", but  no backups are shown. (see screenshot)

(I just tried again with the path /Movies and the log file is attached.)

Correct as any folder that already exists will work. but where do your existing/previous backups exist?  Otherwise you just run the task to create a backup in that folder.@SteveCartman54

I have not created any backups and I am trying to create my first backup.

To do so, I click on the green save button (see screenshot), but no backup is created.

Should I be doing something else?

Yes. Saving there only saves settings, it does not create backup; to do so, run Scheduled task "Configuration backup" (topmost task in Scheduled task list).

Thanks GrimReaper. That worked and I now have a backup.

Ok. I installed Emby.  But I am having path problems.

My local IP address for my Synology Nas is 192.168.2.16

I tried locating my music library which is in docker\Music

These did not work:

\\196.168.2.16:8096\docker\Music

\\196.168.2.16\docker\Music

What path should I enter?

Hi, I would suggest mounting a share in Synology and then adding that into Emby Server:

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Unfortunately too much lost, that are in Nas folders that I am not able to access in shares.

I just created a new Docker container with the latest Emby Image.
