The problem was the same, not loading the SRT external subtitle, and a subtitle option Und (Default EIA_608) Closed Captions 1 appeared, but im my case selecting that didn't show anything either. In VLC they also appear. I managed to get around by removing these subtitles with the following command:

ffmpeg -i input.mkv -codec copy -bsf:v "filter_units=remove_types=6" output.mkv

There are very few files that this happens, but it would be nice if Emby could manage these subtitles to at least load the external subtitles.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi.  These aren't external subs if they are closed captions...

We are looking into why the player cannot display some of these.

can you check if you're able to mark an episode as played? or unplayed for that matter?
I experience the same issue on my android TV (Mi TV) and on my mobile (oneplus 9 pro / android13) with the (external subs, SRT) also download of subs gives an error) since a few days.

The logs show me:

http/1.1 Response 302 to host6. Time: 0ms. http://host3:8096/emby/Sync/data

where same client (mobile) is without issues via external connection
I noticed the difference between internal / external connection
also noticed on the local network it is not https, where it is on external. can I force https on the local network?

I also tried the sideloaded APK on the Mi TV, which did not had these particular issues, but had others (like skip to specific timepoint)

 let us know.

So to confirm....

I've just hooked my Mi TV to my neighbours WiFi......

no more issues. So now my question is, where is the setting that forces my internal network connection to use the Local HTTPS port number

this is in the client app?

Hi, we don't currently have an option to force SSL on the local network.
