Is there best/preferred IPTV setup?

I'm still new/exploring Emby, just recently setting up LiveTV with my IPTV provider and curious what everyone's thoughts are on the best/preferred setup.

I currently run a Proxmox NAS with most things running in various containers or VMs.  And I have a container running Emby; added my IPTV provider and can watch the LiveTV pretty well with no issues.

But I'm also exploring options,  and have setup containers for both NextPVR and xTeVE, and hope to experiment with TVHeadead later this week.

Is using the 'built in' IPTV with Emby the best way?   Or is it better/preferred to pass in the LiveTV it from NextPVR (Or other) into Emby?

And is it preferred to keep them on separate containers/VMs, or run Emby, NextPVR (or other) all on the same container/VM?

Does any see any speed or performance improvements one way over another?

Thanks,

PT

i have a combination of 2 iptv subs and a 3rd m3u from a local tv server that does nothing but manage the pcie cards.

i would recommend iptvboss to provide emby with a fully curated m3u and xmltv file. emby's built in features are significantly behind the features in that tool. plus it gives you resilience.

I use emby epg as it shows all the cover art with a personal text file with my channels works fine. If I was to choose TVheadend or STB-Proxy would be my choices on a dedi pc for channels only and remote into it for editing. Just a mini pc hard wired to your modem is all you need.

Install that on a mini pc with tvheadend and add your channels link to emby.

😂 just a separate pc.

iptvboss can be installed on the same machine as emby and has some critical benefits over your method. the only thing it cant do, which i think tv headend can, is layering of m3u's from multiple sources. but the OP doesnt mention that. and i have full cover art

Why would you remove a link to a Github open source proxy that does nothing illegal @Luke? @ebr

Sounds cool, I never used iptvboss I manually do everything myself, make and create my own servers right down to my own editing for m3u files adding 4 backup channels from other m3us if one is down it will play the next one in line automatic while showing only 1 channel in guide when there are 4. I'm very picky with my server and how it looks and works 🙂

Might as well Direct and Produce your own shows! 🙂

All joking aside, what switches it to next stream if one is down? JC (We've been trying to solve that issue for 8 years now.)

Links in a m3u tells emby to switch to next stream if one is down? I'm gonna have to call bullShi# on that 1.

Yea, thanks. I'm not gonna mess with my server. It's been running for years. It would be cool if someone could make a program to do that automatically for several Providers/m3u's.

It works for me, it tries the first link then goes and plays the channel fine with 2nd link.

I believe you, just not practical for 100k streams.
