unisoft 329 Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 They've tried before with codecs and failed. Dolby is too embedded now into physical formats and streaming. It's trusted. Their own services may take it though. 1

It's trusted. Their own services may take it though. I think this overstates things. AV1 is poised to replace HEVC for internet streaming purposes and many manufacturers aren't happy with Dolby. DV/DA aren't going to go away, but that doesn't mean these alternatives won't thrive.
