Digitoxin1 2
Had an internet outage that lasted half a day today and discovered a very annoying issue with the way Emby handles premier licenses. It appears that the clients do not validate the premier license with the server, but with Emby itself. I understand this is to strictly enforce the 25 client count per license. This causes problems when a client is infrequently used and needs to reauthenticate its Premier status with Emby and is unable to because of lack of internet access. There should be a way to reserve a client spot for a specific client on a specific server. Active reservations would reduce your max client count from 25 for each reservation in the system, but would allow a client with a reservation on a server to authorize its premier status with the server itself without having to go out to the internet and validate with Emby. Connecting the client to any other server would go through the traditional validation process. Edited August 28, 2022 by Digitoxin1

There are actually more reasons than that but there is a lot of discussion about this throughout the forum. We may find ways to improve it but we do live in a connected world and this isn't much of an issue for most people most times. Allowing any sort of permanent or even semi-permanent access, unfortunately, opens us up to misuse in a number of ways - things we battle on a daily basis actually. We apologize for the inconvenience but have not found a better mechanism yet that protects both you and us.
