cptbrainia 3 Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 My Emby server seems to randomly add seasons and episodes of TV Shows that do not exist in my library. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to remove them. As an example, I have The Orville seasons 1-2 on my server. Emby added a Season 3 and populated it with episode 10 and marked it as missing. I believe at some point, it listed all of them (this was months before season 3 even aired). I've noticed this with other series/seasons as well. Stranger Things season 4 wasn't downloaded, but it showed episodes 4-9 as just showed them as missing. At some point, those simply disappeared. Rescanning files doesn't seem to make a different on that. Any ideas on what to look at, check, or test? Thanks for the help!
GrimReaper 4159 Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 (edited) Settings>Library>edit your TV shows library>select "Show advanced settings">scroll down>untick "Display missing episodes within series">run Scan. Edited August 5, 2022 by GrimReaper
cptbrainia 3 Posted August 5, 2022 Author Posted August 5, 2022 I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that this option is already unchecked (it was the first thing I looked into). Also, I would expect (and hope) that if the option were selected that the results would be more uniform, e.g. all of the missing episodes from a season would be shown as opposed to a single episode that was the 10th in order, or episodes 4-8, etc.
GrimReaper 4159 Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Try Refreshing metadata on affected show; if that doesn't solve it, remove show from parent TV shows folder, scan, return it, scan.
Happy2Play 9455 Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 (edited) @cptbrainiaIf I understand correctly this is about items appearing from Upcoming. So you have to disable the per user setting on Settings-Display "Display missing episodes within seasons" This is still a little independent of the per library setting. It's possible that this may have resolved it. Fortunately or unfortunately, Emby's behavior in this regard is unpredictable: it didn't always show missing episodes and what it did show (e.g. which missing episodes) changed regularly. Is there a way to submit a bug fix for this?
Happy2Play 9455 Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Emby has always shown Upcoming the day of as Missing. But would guess the Devs could find a way to completely ignore virtual items.

With only user setting Display missing episodes within seasons, yesterday's episode haven't imported yet and future episode appear via virtual Upcoming episodes. And Today's not aired yet episode + future episodes There is currently no way to not see these unless you disable User settings. Without custom css Edited August 8, 2022 by Happy2Play
Happy2Play 9455 Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 @Luke We don't record Airday/Air time for series do we? <Airs_DayOfWeek>Tuesday</Airs_DayOfWeek> <Airs_Time>9:00 PM</Airs_Time> As these items should not be missing until after their AirTime the day they air.
Luke 40128 Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 So this is just a quirk that happens on the day of the episode?

Does populate future/unaired season per Upcoming data. So the only way not to see any virtual items is disable user setting.

rbjtech 5000 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 I think you need 2.1.11+ for this feature. List of releases for AndroidTV below - https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42240-emby-android-tv-release-notes-beta/&do=findComment&comment=393000

If I need 2.1.11+ then how did I change it to show the missing episodes in the first place, like ebr said 2. if 2.1.11+ is available why dont any of my FireTV cubes offer the update? 3. If I have to manually update this thing (which I used to not have to do) how will I know if there is an update in the future? Do I have to follow that thread to stay up-to-date? Lyfesaver 73 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 (edited) So, I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Now I have v2.1.14a and still no option to hide these eps There are two version of Emby in my app store: Emby & Emby for FireTV. I have been using Emby for FireTV. Will try the other one. Happy2Play 9455 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Must be the store as I got v2.1.21g but dev will probably have to comment as I really don't know how the versions works for these and only to limited testing on my tablet. 1
