Prathik 0 Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Hi All, I have forwarded my synology https port and I am making use of the same to reverse proxy to Emby. I am able to access my Emby server remotely via https via browsers on phone or laptop. However, I am not able to connect to the same link via Apple TV. Could someone throw some light here. 1. tried the link with and without Port number. 2. tried reinstalling the app and restarted the server 3. Tried with and without automatic port mapping setting on Emby server the certificate I am using is from synology. The default certificate that is user for quick connect. I have forwarded the https synology port to local http port on LAN and enabled reverse proxy. Thanks in advance
vdatanet 1572 Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 Maybe Apple TV is not trusting the Synology SSL Certificate.
Prathik 0 Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 (edited) @vdatanet: yes could be. But how to go about the problem? Is there a way to make Apple TV trust? When http works fine on Apple TV I am not sure why https should be a problem? Could it be the Emby app? on iOS: SAFARI I had to manually trust the certificate when it gave me a pop up. Could it be similar with the Emby app but the app doesn’t have this mechanism? Edited July 29, 2022 by Prathik
vdatanet 1572 Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Take a look at this: Technical Q&A QA1948: HTTPS and Test Servers (apple.com)
unisoft 310 Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 (edited) I use DIGICERT 2048 length key and TLS 1.2 - all works fine with Apple TV 4K. Also works for firesticks, ROKU, LG App, Web App, iOS app and Android Mobile App...... The cert you use has to be in the device's CA Trusted Root list. Edited August 3, 2022 by unisoft
