I wouldn't recommend over 512 on older Synology devices as found this caused home screen delay. I had added more memory to mine. I have a 12 bay DS2415+. About 6 years old. That's what I found when I was testing the ideal setting out...Could be different on different models.

Huh, that's strange... Even when you have a lot of unused memory?

I use the native x64 version (not docker), and I have 16 GB of RAM on dual channel mode, plenty of it unused (at least currently).

What do you think makes the home screen slower on your part? What is it that you see that you can tell the difference?

When I used the higher figures, the home screen loaded but I could hear the disks chattering away much more then a delay in showing (web client). I used a lower figure and found fast response so settled on that. I haven't changed the sizes for past couple of Emby releases though.

A database vacuum might also help.

Having external access to Emby is something that a lot of us actually want and use, so... I guess sometimes it's a bit inevitable.

I wonder what the usecase would be?
And opening up your NAS to the internet, is pretty much asking for trouble.
VPN would be much safer solution.

TVs don't have access to VPN software as far as I know.

TV’s usually are in the same network. :)
