Konvertieren Fragen/Hilfe

Moin zusammen, ich hätte da mal ein paar fragen zum Konvertieren.

Ich habe hier Backups in h264/h265 dtc,ac3 etc etc. hat sich einfach über die Jahre alles im wirwarr gesammelt. Nun hab ich überlegt mal die Konvertierung zu testen.

Davor hätte ich allerdings ein paar fragen (will mir nicht die Files zerschießen)

Eventuell wichtig zu den Fragen. Abgespielt wird auf Apple TV 4k, Android Box/TV sowie ios/android Phones.

 

Wenn ich mit meinem Nutzer etwas Konvertiere, stehen die Files am ende jedem Nutzer zur Verfügung? (möchte nicht jedem rechte zum Konvertieren geben)

 

Habe ich das richtig verstanden sofern ich 1x für Mobile und 1x für TV Konvertiere diese Files automatisch auf dem jeweiligen Gerät ausgewählt werden zum abspielen?

Oder muss man diese dann Manuell auswähle wie z.B. bei Ger/Eng Tonspuren?

 

Wie sicher ist das Feature die Originale zu ersetzen? Würde am liebste Ersetzen um somit Platz zu sparen, aber eben nicht mit Gefahr Files zu verlieren/zerstören

 

Was wäre die beste Methode um ungewollte Subs und Tonspuren aus einem File zu löschen vor dem Konvertieren? (habe zumindest keine Option in Emby gefunden)

edit: hier habe ich was gefunden.  Mkv Optimizer, falls da wer in Zukunft was suchen sollte

 

Original Quality=Kein Qualitätsverlust in Bild und Ton? Wäre mir am liebsten, möchte keine Qualität verlieren und eigentlich nur Transcoding verhindern/minimieren

What you convert is part of the library so anyone with access to that library will see the newly converted file.
If you create both a mobile and a tv file these will get used if needed.  What I would do is convert first to TV so those are listed first.
Then convert to mobile so it's the second choice.  From the media detail screen you can manually choose the version from a drop down.
If you just click play from a screen without the choice and you haven't played it before it should select the first version that will play without transcoding if that's possible.
If none of the files are direct playable (unlikely) it will transcode using the original.

Pretty sure that's the logic but I would test using a few files looking at things like this so you understand how it's going to work on your system.

Try the test above and see if you have an sub or audio track issue with the converted files. All tracks do not get "copied" so it may not be an issue you need to think about.

 

What I'm going to suggest is a great way to try/test the process to see if it meets your needs.
You can also pretty much answer any of your own questions by doing a little test.

Create a new folder on your system next to movies or tv shows. you can use for testing. Call the folder "testlib" or something.
Copy (not move) 3 to 6 folders of movies or maybe one of your smallest TV shows that has at least a few episodes.

Now create a new library in Emby "TestLib" of type movies or tv shows to match what you copies.
You can now use this library to test with.  Since it's a copy you don't need to worry about loosing any data as you learn/try different things.
