Roku stucks loading at 33%

Hi I'm having this trouble on some movies, this is an example, it does a loading pass trought 100% then another that stucks at 33%, it tries some times again and then I get an error.
I thought it could be the PGSUB, that's fine, I select SRT, still failing, I thing it's not remembering the settings for audio and subtitles and sends the previous default to be played.

Any idea?

Have last Roku version (10.5.1) on a 3820X - Streaming Stick 4K, and emby (4.6.7.0), Emby for Roku 4.0 build 31

Thanks!

Hi.  No, it isn't a Roku issue.  It looks like your server is not fast enough to transcode these items.  What is the hardware?

It's a Raspberry pi4, no problem with other 4k videos, it should do a direct streaming when setting to AC3 and SRT, no transcoding needed here. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hi.  You are trying to play PGS subtitles which are not supported by Roku.  if you de-select the subs or find text based ones if you need them then it may work better for you.

I am selecting SRT subs and 5.1 audio, apparently it doesn't use my selection and sends PGSSUB. Any idea?

Thanks!

In the above log,  this subtitle track was selected and that is why it transcoded and attempted to burn in:

19:31:42.229 Stream #0:4(eng): Subtitle: hdmv_pgs_subtitle, 1920x1080 (default)
19:31:42.229 Metadata:
19:31:42.229 title : Forced

Since it is a forced track, it was probably selected automatically.

How are you certain you selected the SRT subtitles?

From the movie menu dropdown I selected SRT and then hit play. Am I missing something? Can send a video if it helps

Thanks!

Hi.  Can we see the ffmpeg log(s) - there may be more than one - that corresponds with that exact activity?

Thanks.

They are all showing a direct play error.  It may be that the error fallback is not remembering your manual subtitle selection but I'm not sure why it is having to fall back in the first place.

Can you please play that item until it starts to try and transcode and then follow the instructions to send a log from the app?

Just to be sure, nothing else on the log folder, so the only log remaining is the roku one, right? Asking to send all in one post.

BTW is also failing when playing on Firefox, so it doesn't seem a Roku issue (so not sure what else to send)

Thanks!

Hi.  The app log is not in a folder.  It is sent right from the app.  Instructions are in the link I provided.

Thanks.

It's happening to me, too. Stuck at 13 or 33% for a few moments (think it's freezing), and then eventually it starts. Only happens on Roku, I'm not using subtitles at all. On my desktop it's fine. It's happening to a few friends IRL that use Emby, too. They stopped using it on Roku because they thought it was freezing and were getting impatient. It does eventually come up.

On anything else (including phone) it works fine.

Here it fails a number of times on Roku and then throws an error, never got to play, same on firefox
