Change Music artist path or delete music artist

id3 tag names are more of a consensus than a standard. Consequently programs often support multiple tag names to denote an internal value. A common variance is for tags name 'albumartist' and 'album artist' both being resolved to the artist that made the album.

 

The best defense against this I have found is clean your tag versions using mp3tag to just one version of id3v2. Choose the one compatible with all your hardware and software. Then use right click ..extended tags to see and delete all tags in a file not just the tags you think are pertinent.

 

Optionally you you can use an action in mp3tag like 'remove all fields except' the tags you know you want (ensure the exception lists the tags you want to keep). Fwiw the most common confusion is around the two album artist tags mentioned.
