theZach 2 Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 I'm having this weird issue where mp4 files won't stream to the webapp, but mkv files stream fine. All files work in theater apps. I know it's not a network speed issue. Any ideas?
Luke 40114 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Hi there, what happens when you try to play them?
theZach 2 Posted October 6, 2021 Author Posted October 6, 2021 It just stays on the loading screen where the poster is the background
theZach 2 Posted October 6, 2021 Author Posted October 6, 2021 So I let it sit for a while and chrome just downloaded the entire file before it started playing.
Luke 40114 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 HI, is this over the local network, or a remote connection?
theZach 2 Posted October 6, 2021 Author Posted October 6, 2021 It's all remote connections, proxied through cloudflare
Luke 40114 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Can you try without cloudfare for testing purposes?

theZach 2 Posted October 6, 2021 Author Posted October 6, 2021 Changed my caching setting and works fine now. Thanks! 1

trtrtrtr 5 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I did, but it seemed like theZach found a specific issue and fixed it. The guide is quite outdated, so had hoped on an easy fix.
theZach 2 Posted December 28, 2023 Author Posted December 28, 2023 I just had to disable all of the cloudflare caching settings

Can you be more specific? I would love to copy your settings. On other news, I can see they added a tier for people streaming now. Under "Stream" menu. Thanks for replying.
theZach 2 Posted December 28, 2023 Author Posted December 28, 2023 This setting in caching configuration did the trick for me

Thank you so much. this post that @Lukegave you earlier shows all of the suggested cloudflare settings while still using caching for images and stuff... its one of the main reasons to even use Cloudflare is the caching of images, cover art etc.. particularly the two rules you need to create. darkassassin07 620 Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 (edited) Just note that streaming video or other large media files via cloudflares CDN (proxy) is prohibited unless that media is also hosted on a cloudflare service. https://blog.cloudflare.com/updated-tos/ https://www.cloudflare.com/service-specific-terms-application-services/#content-delivery-network-terms You'll likely get throttled at somepoint. I was and just switched to using their DNS only. Edited January 1, 2024 by darkassassin07 1

But I only had issues with the mp4, and the other suggestions fixed it. I'll try to go through the guide again, until the inevitable move to nginx or another service. I do remember excluding files earlier, so I'm surprised why mp4 had an issue.
