"Repeat one": horrendous behavior on short videos

When viewing a short video, and when the repeat mode is set to "Repeat one", once the video ends it will be completely unbuffered and buffering will start anew from the server over the network. This causes unneeded bandwidth waste, processing time waste on the machine performing the potential transcoding, and induces very annoying and unneeded delays when waiting for the video to buffer again. In this case, it is a lot quicker and a lot more efficient to simply tap the "rewind backwards 10 seconds" button multiple times in quick succession -- this will not induce buffering of any kind and the video will play from the beginning very quickly.

This behavior is totally illogical to me - why would we want to re-buffer a video that is already loaded into memory in its entirety.

I have observed this behavior in the Emby web app on a mobile device as well as in the Android app, while streaming from a local network. IMO this should be treated as a bug.

Hi, yes we'd have to treat it as a special case and maybe just rewind it instead of coming to a complete stop and starting again.
