mlapoint posted a topic in LinuxI am planning on going from Wisconsin to Texas on Amtrak Apr. 20 - May 4. I know Amtrak has Wi-Fi the whole way, but I'm not sure how good it is and if I will be able to play movies from my Ubuntu Emby Server at home. Just to make sure I have movies for the 4+ days I will be on the train, I want to see if I can export a list of my movies and put them on my laptop. My systems are as follows: Server Pop_OS (a fork of Ubuntu) version 184.108.40.206 Client Acer 317 Chromebook Emby client 64 GB of storage 512 GB MicroSD card (I just ordered it from Amazon, I hope it works...) I also have VLC for Android if Emby can't play the videos I have on disk Videos I want to watch I found a website that lists the 25 Greatest Superhero Movies of All Time according to IMDB. I have 24 of them (I am missing The Batman which came out this year), but that is OK. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls056551210/ Questions: Can I download movies from my server as if they are being played on a mobile device. This is so they are hopefully smaller It should lower the resolutions so my Chromebook can handle them better Can I play the movies in Emby if I turn off my Wi-Fi? If so, how? Or should I plan on using VLC? They are in various formats (mkv,avi,mp4,etc.), for either of these players, what would make the Chromebook play them better. I can convert them if necessary. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank You, Mike
Hello, I run emby with a reverse-proxy and redirect the root path to access emby to a sub path of my domain. example: mywebsite/emby/ when I create a homescreen shortcut using mobile chrome for android to access emby it creates the shorcut to the root domain of "mywebsite" instead of "mywebsite/emby/". Thanks for your help, I prefer the web version over the android app.
