I'm losing my mind, what am I doing wrong? I have tried with and without the automatic port forwarding option in Emby, and with or without adding manual forwarding per picture. I can connect to https://emby.xxx.cc fine off my phone (different network), but it does say insecure even though it is https verified by ZeroSSL I cannot see any errors in the latest log, but with automatic port forwarding there was an error to do with duplicate port mappings or something. Alexa mainly tells me "Error connecting to your emby user", when I was setting up SSL it did say some other errors like connection or skills issue. Test prompts: "ask m. b. home who is the active user?" (usually no response) & "tell m. b. home to change user to cal" ( error connecting to your emby user) & "tell m. b. home pause" ( error connecting to your emby user) embyserver.txt

I get the error that my emby server needs updated when I use the app remotely. Locally it works fine. I have updated the server 2 times in the last week hoping you were working the problem but it still fails.

Yes, I agree that if you tag everything in a particular way you can get it to work. To me, emby works for these cases, but it is not elegant and could be so much better for representing a personal collection. As mentioned, this has to do how images are displayed for chapters/episodes, descriptions for individual tracks, display for series, etc. For my personal use, I have two libraries set up: one for Audio Books, one for Audio series. The books are set up by to be browsed/organized by author and book. Series of books are handled with emby collections with view collections in line when browsing books. It works ok, but it could be better on a number of fronts including display, navigation, people, OSD, and all of the things that have been suggested over the years. For Audio Series it is a very similar approach and use the audio book library type. However, in an ideal presentation it would be more similar to TV. These series would have proper cast and crew lists which would integrate with the People view used for TV and Movies. Want to see that Ian Holm played Bilbo in the BBC Radio Series - it's right there in his credits under "people." Want full episode descriptions with navigation and continue listening working like TV - it could be done, but it would be different from what you want from books. So while the underlying files and metadata would be a similar setup, I suggest that the library type for Audio Series should have a different display and navigation. That's what I mean by "rethink." First step: utilize series and part tags for Audio Book file types, then get the display/navigation enhanced for books/chapters/series. That all helps Audio Series too, but then I think it's easier to convince the devs how an Audio Series would be displayed and navigated differently.

Okay. I've reviewed the math behind the watched statistics, and it makes sense. I still find it a bit confusing as to how the statistics are displayed in the plugin though. Would it make more sense to just show the number of items played out of the total items collected (including specials), and then not show the "+x sp"? I know from the collected items column how many specials have been collected. For example, with Dollhouse in my previous post just display "27 / 27 (100%)" in the watched column. I know based on the what is presented in the collected column that that includes the 26 main episodes plus one special. For Doctor Who in my previous post, the watched column would show "4 / 6 (66.7%)". That may not be ideal, as the user doesn't know what mix of main and special episodes have been watched. Anyway, I'm good if you leave things as they are now that I understand the math behind it. I just found it weird seeing "27 / 26 (100%). I read that as 27 / 26 = 100%, and the engineer in me said "no it does not" .

I do a scheduled reboot every third day at 5am on a Win10 server, mostly for other reasons. Never have issues losing drives, and my occasionally wonky HDHomeRun doesn't disappear anymore, either. 12-13 year old box, USB drives are a bit wonky, so this is a must for me.

I don't know as I have not tried to do so. Is there a setting somewhere I should check?

Can we add Aspect Ratio to the movie information??? 2:39:1, 1.85:1 etc Particularly if it uses a Variable Aspect Ratio like many movies now do??

Bonjour, Cela fait maintenant presque 1 an que j'utilise Emby. Qui est hébergé sur mon Ordinateur, qui a une RTX 3080 Ti, donc plutôt puissant. Je regarde principalement mes films en 4K sur ma télévision 4K OLED Samsung S95C sur ma Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023). Et je ne comprends pas, il arrive souvent que cela plante lorsque j'essai d'avancer dans le film ou juste changer de langue. Mais si je lance le film sans rien toucher par la suite, cela fonctionne. Pour le soucis de langue, je me suis dit, j'ai qu'a mettre la langue que je veux avant de lancer le film, mais le problème c'est que lorsque ça lance, le film me remet la langue par défaut de la bibliothèque. Qui ne correspondait donc pas à celle que je voulais exceptionnellement mettre. Il n'y a pas de message d'erreur quand cela plante, ça ferme juste l'application Emby.

This is to my previous point about supporting series. This is an important concept for audio books (but has a different meaning for audio series). That said, a good step would be to support the concept of audio book series. MusicBrainz is by no means perfect, but it does have a defined higher architecture for handling it.

The SERIES and SERIES-PART tags are supported by m4b. ABS uses those tags because they are used by m4b-tool and Tone. In fact, ABS uses Tone as the tool to embed metadata tags. Or at least it used to. advplyr seems to say he's moving to just using ffmpeg, even with its limitations, because the scanner is faster that way.

@jaycedkCurrently, Emby does not support "series". It supports "collections", similarly to Plex. Collections in Emby are created manually, not from embedded tags (unless there is a plugin to do so, but I don't use that so ). Also, Emby's collections feature uses themoviedb as a metadata source, so you have to manually fix audiobook collections to have the desired covers and information. EDIT: I don't need someone coming at me saying there is a plugin for auto-generating collections, because it wouldn't work properly anyway since it doesn't pull from the proper local or online metadata sources for audiobooks.

I want to cleanup my file naming structure, is there a way to just rename the a folder that my media is in without it having to "scan or scrape" the media from scratch again. It is a big folder and I did try to do it to a similar size folder which took about 5 hours to scan all the data/posters/etc.... I understand the length of time due to the size of the folder, just trying to avoid it all together, with a simple path name change. I have an idea but want to confirm this would work. Can I just go into the Libraries section in the Admin Control Panel an manually edit the existing path to a different name, which would reflect the new path name? Thanks for any insight.

There was but I think the server changed how it is handling in-progress recordings such that the app can no longer determine that.

I have a Nvidia GTX 1050 that handles hardware transcoding. The problem is that a transcode to burn in subtitles needed by the Roku client causes hardware transcoding to be disabled. And my CPU is not fast enough for software transcoding
