Minimalist Colorful Library and Genre Icons
Suliamu replied to MickeyMori's topic in Fan Art & Videos
Thanks for those awesome icons. I use special Genres in Emby for the origin of a movie. For example: Japanese Chinese Korean Indian Brazilian Russian Polish Czech German French Italian Spanish Maybe you are interested in adding icons for this purpose also to your set to make it more complete. -

All of your logs are showing subtitle burn-in. It's impossible that subtitle have been delayed once and recovered or changed in any way after playing the same part again.

People disable the transcoding and then claim TS is supported for direct play. Or that Roku Media Player can direct play it. It is direct playable on the Roku but you cannot seek forward. When TS is direct played the Roku can only pause into a buffer and then rewind into said buffer. This is nowhere near the same as direct seekable playback. There is a few cases of people disabling transcoding because they feel we shouldn't be transcoding things. In the case of TS streams we do it for a very good reason. Indeed. It was an MKV to begin with. Because DVDSUB/PGSSUB are not supported on Roku it must use TS to burn in the video. This is produce misaligned segments that are too short. I didn't mention them inside any specific container since the ROku does not support them in any container. @softworkzThe normal 3 second segments are coming up short. Do you know the reason for that? That is the cause of this issue.
-
Getting the on screen display back sometime would be super cool!
-
I did only import it once. That is how it came up the first time I set it up. I must be doing things all wrong on my end.
-
ELI5 what I can do about any of this?

TS streams cannot have DVD nor PGS subtitles, only DVBSub (image) or Teletext (text), so you must be talking about two separate things. TS streams should never be direct played, I don't understand why tihs is even enabled for the Roku, there must be something wrong with the device profile. Those streams should always be streamed via HLS, in which case there is still a chance that it doesn't need to be transcoded (only segmented by ffmpeg), but pure TS streams are not suitable in any way for directplay - not on any device actually, it's just that some do better and some do worse in handling that format, which is just defned as a stream but not as a contaienr format for file storage.
-
If at all possible avoid using TS container on the Roku. Because a direct played TS stream is seen as a live stream. It will not allow fast-forward or scrubbing. Because of this Emby will transcode the container to an m3u8 to the Roku. Instead you can manually remux the TS stream into an MKV and you have a much better chance for Direct Play. The DVDSUB/PGSSUB image based subtitles will force a transcode of the video stream on the Roku. Because these are image based and the Roku does not support it these will cause video transcoding. The Roku behaves best with the MKV container. If you need subtitles obtain text-based SRT using the available Emby plugins. These will be placed alongside your media and fetched with a scheduled task. Then you are sure that you are able to play your media in the best way possible on your Roku.

I tested with the desktop app but that acted a bit erratic. Played but would not pass through any atmos sound no matter the settings. Also lagged on audio output for up to 20 seconds when starting media. I decided to do a deep clean of the HEVC extensions and the Dolby Access off the system. Rebooted and slowly tested each setting one by one with specific media to gauge root cause while using different versions and moving up to the current releases. I have it working as it should now with the latest HEVC installed from MS Stoire and the Dolby Access setup to passthrough Atmos. No studders or restarts when moving forward or back. Using theater app from the MS Store not the desktop download. This works better for the way my theater macros work to call the app, lights, sound, etc. For now everything is back to the way it was before the issue started. Not sure if somehow the installed extensions and access just got screwed up with an update and the deep clean allowed a reset but that is what it seems. Will update if I find any more information that could potentially help others in the future.

[4.8.3.0 / Ubuntu-22.04] Can't enable user playlists
Happy2Play replied to schmitty's topic in Linux
Don't have that version but current versions that option can not be disabled. Only /data/playlist is check/uncheckable. 4.8.7.0/4.9.0.20 But can only guess something broke during the migrations to 4.8. But I replicated the issue via dev console as the field is Disabled by default to prevent changes. So you would have to delete the disabled apply your setting and save and refresh page to automatically reapply Disabled. As it is not suppose to be configurable as it is required per user.- 1 reply

How to setup SSL on Emby- no-ip with windows
freshj replied to bandit8623's topic in General/Windows
Hi, firstly thanks for this helpful guide. I managed to get SSL to work and have been using it over the last year. The time has come to renew the certificate and I did so thru the no-ip dashboard using my existing hostname & CSR. My old certificate is still active, expires in a few days. I have downloaded the new certificate pem chain from no-ip. Unsure of what is required now. Do I now have to combine the private key created prior with the new certificate pem I have downloaded to create a new pfx to use with emby? Similar to what was detailed with openssl before? What about the current one? Do I need to revoke that? Does it override the old one? Just not sure what the process is to renew the ssl certificate. Appreciate help in clarifying how this process should go. -

Chiefmas started following Record Series not starting this week?

I've had the TV functionality setup and working fine for a while, but I was asked if I could DVR the game show Wheel of Fortune for someone. No problem...I find it in the guide, and I tell it to record the series, and tell it to keep up to 10 episodes. Nice and straightforward, seems simple enough just like every DVR thing of the past 20 years. It should have picked up the first one today, just a little bit ago...there's nothing. I go look to see what happened, and found if I check the schedule tab(which I assume is the schedule of recordings), that it has queued up recordings for Monday and Tuesday of next week. That's all. This is a 5 day a week show, but I thought maybe I just started in an off week with re-runs. Go check- no, the guide indicates today was a new show. As are the rest of them this week, which aren't listed in the schedule either. Thinking maybe something is off or I did it wrong, I cancel the recording and re-configure the series recording. Same result, Monday and Tuesday of next week, nothing of this week. So...I don't know what's going on, or if I've got something off. If I individually queue the broadcasts of this week, they show up in the schedule- I don't know why my series record I just added isn't queuing them. I didn't see a "starting" date for that, and I also would have though it would tag the rest of next week, but if I go with the idea it only schedules 7 days in advance, that would explain only going through Tuesday of next week, but not why nothing is scheduled for this week, despite otherwise appearing to meet the criteria. So, any ideas? I guess in the mean time I'll just manually queue this week up. I suppose for now, the main thing I'm looking to find out if that's just a behavior where it doesn't process the current week or something like that. Thanks!
