i'm not sure if relevant but I do have a pihole running at the router level. VPNs are only on browsers for me - I wonder if user consumer also has a pihole running? either way, i'm just so happy the problem is solved lol

Yes, what Luke said. It may depend on what else you are doing with your NAS besides emby. But for emby/server use, it mostly comes down to IOPS. Installing emby on an NVME drive or moving your cache and transcoding folders to an NVME will make a huge difference (it did for me). There are varying levels of complexity you can look at doing with a DS1520+, but adding an optional NVME cache is the easiest. You may want to read through this thread (particularly Carlo's comments):

It's funny you asked. I do have a sim racing wheel. But, while troubleshooting (and up till now) I pulled both the powered usb hub and the power cord out of the wall that went to the power brick that runs my rig. It was the first suspect in my mind. So there are no physical connections between my PC and my rig right now. But, you're totally right. It's probably some of the sim software that's doing this.... But, how to isolate it without a fresh install or uninstalling all of my software. I feel as if I've just placed myself on a very long road. It's been so long since I've done a fresh install. /sigh I'll check back in a few days or weeks (or longer I'm lazy so sue me) once I finally feel confident pulling this off. I'm gonna have to back up a lot.

Hi, going from 16 to 20 might not be a massive difference. But every little bit can help, especially if you have other apps on the NAS running. What can make a substantial difference though is installing an SSD cache drive into the Synology, if your model supports that.

I have a Synology DS1520+ with 8gigs of RAM… I have a 16gig RAM stick that I bought to add more RAM. Would adding more RAM ; for a total of 20GIGS make any “real” difference in the performance of EMBY?

1.0.0.9 - works for me and I just installed it. Separated my 4k from 1080p and have both libraries grouped and now I can select which version to watch. So far so good. Does Top Picks and New Releases plugin work with this version now??

being of the curious sort, I thought I'd try Jellyfin to see what it was like. In order to install I uninstalled Emby and the installed Jellyfin. (both use port 8096, and two can't use same port). Jellyfin was okay, but dialogue always tended to be out of synch, with no way to fix. So I uninstalled Jellyfin, and reinstalled Emby. I thought everything would be fine, but alas no. Emby now refuses to connect. Anybody have any ideas as to why this has occured? Server is available on PC, and EzConnect (only from PC tho'), but not on any other devices. Thanks in advance, Embra

Left it on overnight and it started to work. It's now working somewhat but it takes a while to load and without the folder images. Thanks.

I have no issues adding 5 folders. Don't have this problem on Emby Server 4.7.13.0

yep emby movie Tags. I finally now have atmos and dts x etc information available in emby. or dv profiles. thanks to the add on. these info are missing without the add on. I see the tags and info in emby. I can work with the tags for filter dtsx movies for example. I cannot see the info kodi. not as tags, not as icons, not as info, not as text not as whatever... a movie in kodi is still true HD, even if the movie is atmos true HD

I've written this very late last night so I apologize if I wasn't clear on this. But the phones and server are on the same network and on the same subnet. My brother and I wanted to make sure we're able to connect locally on our home network first before trying to connect As for the beta to stable, thankfully on another fourm post, I was made aware of that . I setup a new recording and this time it showed up in the "Recorded TV", but it would not play the file. All I got to see was a black screen and the progress wheel, I left it alone for 20 minutes, but nothing changed. On another computer I was able to get into the Emby settings, so I copied both log files. They should show at least one recording, but there are another 12 recordings setup from before there was any problems. This issue didn't start until installing onto the new machine either. Which is unfortunate as now that I have ample storage space on the home server vs when it was on 3 different locations clouds+local. During consolidation I was ok losing the newest media tab to it having to add it all again but now for it to get messed up by removing duplicate or lower resolutions is quite frustrating. I will likely just group the versions instead of deleting. I'd love if it would like plex auto group media regardless of where it is folder wise. I know emby is supposed to do this if they are in the same folder Say Movies/ABC/Res1.mp4 res2.mp4. Granted I've never seen that work. I have a lot of movies in a single directory as well so that doesn't work for auto grouping as they would technically be in the same folder and have at the end appended the resolution.

Got it, although it looks like 10142 is the SD ID on zap2it.com, so my approach still seems to work (in the US and Canada). I'd try for CBBC (SD and HD are different too) 29324 or 83281 and CBeebies 29325 or 83283.

For the heck of it, I set the size to 100000. This appears to mitigate the "Too many packets buffered for output stream" error. I still have the test movie playing. 12 minutes in, with transcoding humming along at 270fps, and Segment at 2850. Is this a viable solution? I'd like to understand more about the -max_muxing_queue_size ffmpeg parameter in the context of how it affects Emby transcodes. For those who are having the same issue, here's what I did to fix this in my environment: Install the Diagnostic Options plug-in Scroll down to the Parameter Adjustment section In Text to Replace: -segment_write_temp 1 In Replacement Text: -segment_write_temp 1 -max_muxing_queue_size 100000 Save I do not know the impact to an Emby Server (memory, disk, concurrent streams, etc). But for one stream that requires transcoding which used to always fail with "Too many packets buffered for output stream", this fixed it for me. I only tested with one movie and will continue testing.

This is all that is installed. Nothing manually either. On the old machine you couldn't install any plugins so never bothered trying any. It would just error out about a directory but nothing about permissions or as to why.
