Update not available via Google Play Store on my Android (HTC One M8) phone. Any way to force the update?

I have updated to the latest version of the android app, when I try to login I put the username & password it finds my server but comes up with a message Connection Failure" We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again.

I have checked the server it is running, I have rebooted my Samsung tablet I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but it still comes up with the same message.

This is just like the Smart Player app on Windows Metro/Modern. Just what I wanted!

Is it just me or is there no seeking for live/recorded TV?

I'm running Win7 WMC > ServerWMC > Emby > Android Client

How do I get my old screen back? I don't want a web server view on my android, I spent hours setting up my folders so I could hand my android to my wife or company and they could look at all the categories I set up and browse through all the movies to see what they wanted to watch. Then I would cast them to my TV. I'm sure I'm missing something in the set up but no mater what I do I get the same screens I get in configure Emby. What an I doing wrong?

Are you referring to the sub-categories under Movies such as Suggested, Latest, etc. If yes then open left slide out menu, click your user icon, and you will be taken to display settings. Scroll down to View Styles and turn off the enhanced presentations for your Movie sections. That will turn it more into simple movie browsing like the previous version.

When I do that I still get the "edit" screen and I no longer have the beautiful images I loaded to show all my different categories, like Divx, Recorded TV, SciFi Movies, etc.. All I get are the little tiny buttons at the top in "Home". Is there any way to get it to look like it did before?

So I've installed this on most of the Android devices that regularly connect to my server, seems they don't stay logged in now like before.  I find that many times after exiting the app upon launching it again I have to sign in as if the app is fresh and new i.e. I have to use my emby connect account (or setup the server manually) and then select the server, etc.  Further, once signed in I have to sign the user out and sign in with the correct user for that device.  Kind of frustrating at the moment.

OK, I found how to see my "Collections"...you have to open a movie media folder, open a movie and collections is offered at the top of the screen. Not real intuitive but they can be found there. It may be how I have it set up, I'll keep looking to find a way to have it offered on my main screen.

When I try that I get a folder on my Home screen that doesn't show my collections and says I have to create them. I'm currently using Auto Box Sets and they show up fine when I click on Collections when I'm reviewing a movie title. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Hi, great work, Is there a feature request section for the new app? I already miss the old music player with the artist backdrop and "favorite" button. Also with sync will I be able to use my external SD card?

Just a couple of questions on the new Emby for android.

 

1. How do I quit the app ? Like close the process. I can see sign-out, which signs me out from emby connect, but what I want is to close the app/process.

2. In my movies or tv folders, how do i default to 'Movies' or 'Shows' on enter instead of the 'Suggestion' tab.

You mean "finally black border around the subtitles so I CAN ACTUALLY READ THEM"? Well, I'm guessing resuming something with subtitles still doesn't work anyway, so whatever.

Great update, been using for a couple of days now. No crashes or hangs like the previous version.

Sync works great, would be awesome to have a 'sync now' button. Example if a press sync on my mobile it is put on the sync queue on the server to be converted at the scheduled sync time, or if i go to the server and start the sync manually. Would be good to be able to press one sync button on the mobile so the item is synced/coverted straight away. 

TV Guide is killer, would be great to have the option to show the guide first instead of the Suggestions/ On Now page that comes up first when you start live tv.

 

Great Work all round!! Much smoother experience in the android app now. And great that you can now access the server from within the app for admin purpooses.
