We've had a lot of issue with Opus audio with mixed results, so we removed the support for Direct Playing opus audio. This should be causing an audio conversion and HLS streaming, but the avi video format needs to be converted as it's not supported in HLS streaming, so it's falling back to a full transcode. It also looks like there are issues converting the video format which is probably causing the quality issues. Can you try disabling Hardware acceleration/decoders and test with software conversion? Since you are already doing a conversion when you download, could you try also transcoding the audio to aac at the same time?

Not sure if you had an enhancement list, but the ability to add a collection poster from a URL rather than a file would be great. The Kometa-team free image sets on github are vast and are used for the collections creations you see on lots of screen grabs. using the example below - this was from a previous script from another user which i still use to create the collections, but it would be great to sunset that and get it all done in this Plugin .. Was there a solution for this? I’m not even able to get the bold tag to be displayed in either .srt or .ass. I’m not sure what the default font is but would just prefer a bolder Ariel style font that has a bit more weight and visibility. This is using the Emby for Android app, not the Emby for Android TV app, on a Google TV. Thanks

That's correct, and I think we are saying the same thing. If a device (such as the shield) sends lossless audio into the TV via HDMI, then it can be passed out via HDMI/eARC without an issue, but an app on the TV cannot pass lossless audio out from the app on the TV via HDMI/eARC. Actually you will get nothing, the app/server must convert the audio to something compatible, which is generally AC3. By app in this statement, I meant an app on the TV, not the Shield Again, you are correct. In some cases, the video may need to be transcoded as well as the audio which will break DV. Regardless, these are limitation of the TV with regards to not allowing apps on the TV to support lossless audio, and it is a limitation of the DV format that it does not survive a transcoding process. If you want TrueHD and DV support, then absolutely the Shield is the right device.

This is one of the main reasons I stopped letting Emby manage my metadata and switched over to Tiny Media Manager. It's an extra step, but get WAY better results.

I've not investigated it, but I suspect that the way it works is that once one metadata source has provided a list actors, subsequent sources are not checked to compare with it. I suppose an option to merge information from all metadata sources might help, but that would mean a lot more lookups, and maybe other logical problems I haven't thought of. Paul

You might also consider signing up to TVDB and adding this series (with both names) yourself - it's quite easy once you get the knack, though I admit it might get tedious doing it for every episode as they appear (this being a new show). Paul

@soderlund91What would be SUPER amazing is the ability to only Tag UNWATCHED items from a Local Playlist source. That way, your watchlist automatically removes items you have already watched (regardless of the app settings to only show unwatched items) ... Amazing Plugin btw !

@soderlund91WOW ! - when did the Playlist to Tag work as I hoped it would do for TV Shows !? If a USER uses 'add to Playlist' on a TV Show, Emby currently (incorrectly imo), adds all the episodes (but not the show or season). Meaning you could never easily use that to create a Watchlist. However, I've just realised that if you now use that Playlist as a Tag source, it just Tags the SHOW with the Tag, not the individual episodes - this is just PERFECT for creating a Watchlist.!! This is excellent - and I now just need to tell users to add to their own (or others if they have permission) playlists to get the SHOW added to their own Watchlist (which thanks to the new homescreen, now has their own ROW called Watchlist) Fantastic ! Going to be fully testing this for sure -- Perfect .. ie - in ANY App - a USER can add to their own Playlist .. at last a Watchlist has become a reality without me needing some scripting to convert it .. hooray !

When reading music video on Samsung TV the image quality is poor. I thought it was the original recording but I played the same videos on a androidtv app and the video was clean. Looking at the logs it seems there is a problem playing the videos. Yes it is. The logic is like this: 1. Download external list / check local media info filter 2. Compare to your movie library 3. Tag movies/series and remove the tag from items that no longer match from step 1. So if your manually added movie isn’t part of the filter or the external list, the plugin says “this has once been on the spotlight list but is no more, I need to remove the tag.” I believe this is the best way to ensure an automated and curated tag/collection. With the latest beta release you can manually include a movie by its name. Maybe I can add a more direkt way to all options to “also include this movie/series”.

The server is currently running on Debian 13. The installation went smoothly. I wanted to install the beta version of the client on a computer running Fedora. This also went smoothly with Debian using the Universal Installer, but did not work with Fedora. I do not want to switch the server to Fedora yet.

I disabled all my spotlight tag tasks, and manually tagged one film as spotlight because I keep meaning to watch it and forgetting. Downloaded the new beta, set up a couple of spotlight tags using the new media information stuff, and it wiped the manually-added spotlight tag from the single film. Is this intended behavior?

Simple question, so had no idea where to post it, sorry. Looks, Emby downloading metadata only from first source in a list. I have tvdb, moviedb, openmoviedb, tvmaze sources. When Emby scanning library, it;s taking info only from first in a list, ignoring rest of databases. It's difficult in TV Shows as some databases have all actors, some, none. For another show, first database have none, but other database have all actors. So I need to change manually sources to add all actors, directors... .
