Feras9 0 Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 Dear Support Team, I would like to report a technical issue that started occurring after updating the application on my Apple TV 4K. Since installing the latest update, any video playback stops at approximately the fourth minute. Immediately after that, the application crashes and closes automatically, exiting completely to the Apple TV home screen. This issue happens consistently with all video files, making the application currently unusable for streaming. Kindly advise on how this issue can be resolved. Please let me know if you require any additional details such as the Apple TV model, tvOS version, or application build number. Thank you for your support. Best regards, Feras
Luke 42412 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
cul8rmom1 9 Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I have had issues with the app just crashing randomly on multiple apple tvs. It runs for a few days most of the time before it does so. Emby server seems to have no issues. 3

Interwebz 1 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Same issue. Happening on Apple TV app and LG app but not on the Windows store app. I just played the same movie on my Apple TV app and Windows store app at the same time. A few minutes in, the Apple TV app paused for 10 seconds or so and then resumed. Later in the movie the Apple TV screen saver for some reason came on which was the second time it paused. Finally, the last time, the Apple TV app just crashed to the home screen. The only thing that's shown in the debug logs on the server is that the client 1. Stopped http/1.1 Response completed after client disconnected 2. Crashed to home screen Playback stopped reported by app Emby for Apple TV 2.0.5 (3) My Apple TV is hard wired but the LG TV is on WiFi and so is the PC that worked. It's starting to get really annoying.
Mo93B 0 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Any update on what causing the issues, its so frustrating crashing every couple of minutes

visproduction 351 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Mo, If some files work, then perhaps the other files have issues. It's very common that video can playback fine with some 3rd party players like VLC, but do not work on TV Apps or Web browsers, which are not as tolerant. You can test video files for errors with many programs like ffmpeg or VLC. Another way to test is to use quality made video content and see if that plays back correctly. It is not usual that 1/2 of videos found from different sources may have errors. Social media video sites always test and correct videos that have any errors to avoid this.

AHrubik 1 Posted Friday at 10:48 PM Posted Friday at 10:48 PM I also have been seeing this issue for awhile now. Usually happens after consistent episode or movie playback.

I don't think it's exclusive to the tvOS app as I have had it happen on my LG Emby app as well. The tricky part is that it's totally random when it happens. The same movie can play fine, next time it plays, stop several times and on the tvOS app also crash to home screen. The server log says that the client went idle or disconnected. I think it would be helpful to read the client log but no idea how to get to that.
