Is there a REST API for update the media stream info?
raylapse replied to raylapse's topic in Developer API
Hi Luke, Thanks for your response. The isomounter simply won't work if the iso is from http cdn via a strm file, in this case embedded ffmpeg won't be able to recoganize streams. - Today

Emby Watch Party - Synchronized Viewing for Friends & Family
ados8000 replied to Oratorian's topic in Tools and Utilities
I wish Emby would support this natively, Plex and Jellyfin both do and I'm considering switching for it. Tried to make Plezy work but before I even tried watch together I found it unusable as it bypasses Emby bitrate caps. I've known about Emby Watch Party (EWP) but never tried it as I was looking for a solution which works with apps e.g. Plezy or ideally native Emby. Before going to Jellyfin I though I would try EWP, it's a great project with obviously a lot of hurtles when your building around an existing platform. I did run into the same issue in that it overrides Emby streaming bitrate caps, I'm starting to see this is more an issue with Emby's implementation. How I assume Emby's system works is via the native apps and browser. When a user starts a stream the client has settings controlling the bitrate. If there's a setting on the server for the user or global then it caps at this bitrate, this is different to Plex and I think Jellyfin. Instead of the client controlling it the server does and the quality is downgraded as stream is created, this allows for any client to be limited the same. Both Plezy and EWP can have quality set to whatever the user wants, regardless of their profile cap limit. At first I thought it was how the relay works, since it's streaming Emby -> EWP -> clients and therefore tricking Emby into thinking all streams are local. So I manually override the local networks to have it treat the subnet as remote and it behaved the same. On a side note, I did find what appears to be a bug with the quality options. It defaults to 10 Mbps, which is annoying in itself as you can't have auto as default, if you select any other quality (higher or lower) it will never let you stay paused. Example, set quality to 15 or 8 and when you pause the video it starts playing after a few seconds. This happens even if there's only 1 party in the stream and can happen for any member of the stream. You cannot select 10 Mbps and it fixes, but you can refresh the page and it will then allow pausing providing you do not change the quality again. This is a great project, really hope Emby adds native support; maybe from this as its base. It's unfortunate that Jellyfin who was once behind is now out in front of Emby in many ways; Plex having fell of the cliff years ago. -
OK, why disable the extraction on the fly?

Hi, are you sure, did you install the isomounter plugin from the catalog? -
I keep getting error messages on trying to delete this one folder and nothing works.

I think you tagged me on this one @luke. I already cleared my cache folder out, thats not an issue. (and recent transcodes worked fine). The log I posted was for a folder that didnt even exist in my cache.
-
Yea I would make sure the actual folder is deleted.

I have deleted every file in the cache except for the tvdb/75545 because it wouldn't let me. I have tried everything it runs fine. I am doing a Data Scrub right now

input/output error could be a lot of things. could be something wrong with the storage device, could just be the server being denied permission to it. permissions could be a good place to start. i'm not sure how the server could have lost permission, but one thing you could try is deleting the cache folder and letting the server recreate it. So that's /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/cache

Where is the code?

I'm about to do some major housekeeping on my drives as I do every 2 years or so. In the past I've had mixed results. I do already have NFO files enabled but seem to get the best results by turning off Real-Time monitoring before doing the move. I think during transfer of multi gB files, the real time scan kicks in before the nfo file is moved/copied and a new one is created with sometimes mixed results. Turning off real-time and letting everything get settled and then either turning real-time back on or manually doing a scan just seems to do better. IMO.

I hope I am doing this right embyserver.txt

corey replied to corey's topic in Emby For Kodi Next Gen
@quickmicJust to add more clarity I install from zip file marked version 1.0.8. After that the video add-on I see is version 10.1.2 and the service add-on is 11.1.27. I removed all Kodi for Emby add-ons again and installed the video add-on. When going into the versions view for that add-on I only see version 10.x and below. No 11 and no 12. -

I have a plugin in mind, but in order to learn how to develop it, I have been essentially re-creating an existing plugin. Essentially I am re-creating the statistics plugin, and rather than storing everything in a XML configuration file, I am using an sqlite db I am having some weird failures. If anyone is up for a code review, it would be most appreciated. TIA Scott

I think the only issue @Sgjumper82had with your initial comment was "uh pretty sure it does this by default" as it doesnt do it out of the box....

Use case: For ISO files, emyb is not able to detect the media stream info like audio/video format etc. While played these files in Kodi, kodi has already recoganized the correct media format, but currently there is no way to write back these format info back to emby server. After next sync with server, the local saved kodi media info then be overwritten to empty again. Could you let me know, if there is an API to write back media stream info? (I know server plugin can do this but this isn't my expectation, I just want to use REST API)?

All the NSSM service editor is, is a 3rd party app designer before SC was standard on all versions of windows. Its beyond ancient but in the days when the Home edition did NOT have a command line SC command to handle the services you had to use the service manager GUI. which not everyone enjoys Using SC to create the service as says, is perfectly fine and does 100% the same thing. NSSM uses the "same" win32 calls to run (I havent verified this in a while). Honestly I do think the KB should no longer use SC as noone is running a version of windows that doesnt have SC at the command line (keep the old KB around to point people to)

Hi, not yet but this is on our to do list for review. Thanks.
