[BETA] Ear Wax - NOW AVAILABLE - Testers Wanted
ginjaninja replied to MarvinB's topic in Amazon Alexa
Command "Alexa ask ear wax to shuffle playlist car" Response "Playing playlist car" track1 is always 1st,track2 is always 2nd (its not shuffled) Out of interest is it intended?....Is the skill shuffling the results? or the api call to emby? "Alexa ask ear wax to play artist questionmark and the mysterians" is now working (hooray) but the skill is dropping "questionmark and the" from the api search (seems dangerous why is that necessary out of interest?) -

Need Advice - Stuttering Video using External HDD
PapalPenguin replied to PapalPenguin's topic in Hardware
I might have figured it out, when I had it set to Advanced it was really poor, but set to Yes, it seems ok so far. I do plan to invest in a newer hdd maybe a internal 12 tb or larger to expand my storage. -

soderlund started following Plugin: StrmCompanion
-
Hello! I have put together a small plugin to help when using .strm files. There are already existing plugins and functions for this, but i wanted to gather them under the same hood and add the ability to control the settings some more of the functions they provide. I made this for myself, and sharing if anyone else finds it useful This plugin enables functions that is missing from native Emby when using .strm files. Most of the functions can also be used on regular media types(mkv, avi, etc). More info and latest release at: https://github.com/soderlund91/StrmCompanion Features Media info extract (specific for .strm files) This plugin uses FFmpeg to probe movies and episodes in selected libraries to extract the media information. This enable Emby to recognize resolution, playtime, audio-codec, subtitles, etc that Emby natively cannot do. It also enables for faster startup since this process has already been made. Can be run as a scheduled task and/or auto detect on new media. Auto merge (all mediatypes) The plugin can merge same movies and episodes across multiple libraries and folders. Emby native only merge if they are located within the same folder. This enable you to for example have a folder of 4K movies and another one of 1080p. The plugin then finds multiple movies or episodes with the same IMDb or TVDb ID and merges them across all or selected libraries. Can be run as a scheduled task and/or auto detect on new media. Intro dectect (all mediatypes) The built in Emby function to detect intros can not run on .strm files. This plugin uses the same technique as Emby (chromaprint) and some other tweaks to find the intro. The detection runs on user selected shows or season, it then posts the intro markers to Emby database and it will work as native in Emby player with the "skip intro" button. The intro detect also can list all existing intro markers even if they are not from this plugin. Disclaimer The intro detection is work in progress. It currently works really good on some shows, and not as good on others. The process is pretty slow (I have prioritized quality over speed) but when the fingerprinting is done you can change the settings and play around with them and it will be a lot quicker. The fingerprinting is the slow process and unaffected by the user settings. So do the fingerprinting and then test with other settings. Screenshots: StrmCompanion.dll

Graphics card specs looks OK. Maybe some transcoding setting could be better? https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-9060-XT-vs-Nvidia-RTX-5070-Ti/m2417253vs4181 -

Title Switch (based on Version-Selection)
Anderella replied to Anderella's topic in Feature Requests
Well, it's not. The "Versions" option is an "option" since years, if you put all movie versions in one folder and name the files different. Which was - as I wrote - never an option for me. So my organisation worked well and "Blade Runner" search found 6 entries with different titles and different covers (DVD, Bluray....). Now - obviously versions are also found via movie-id, what really makes sense and is great (as working under infuse front-end), but right now my library is kind of messed up, without showing the differences, if I select a movie with different formats or versions in my library. -

Well this is your issue, your hardware can't hack it, when it needs to transcode. Well I guess devs will need logs. Read this carefully and do all steps. -
@crusher11is right Its all about the naming.

Well, you did one smart thing. Having your OS and data on two different drives means you can change OS or start over without losing your files. Part one is to mount the drive through fstab - or alternately through the Disks App. Read through the mount options. Disks will want to mount to the UUID name for the disk. Change that to a friendly name by clicking on the two gears icon and choosing "Edit mount options". You may need to run Nemo as Sudo and create the "mounted at" directory. Create it in the /MNT directory and give it root permissions. Then use mount -a as sudo to mount the drive. Then follow this guide to set permissions to allow Emby to see the files. One last note, get Emby to back up to your data drive, so if the OS has a problem you have a copy of your backups.

I installed Emby for Android and I get the same result, op option to adjust subtitle timing. Something strange is happening with this version when I connect to my public facing server. I can log in, but get this error on anything I try to play: object reference not set to an instance of an object. Attaching screen shots showing Emby for Android on my Android TV for bothy Home private server and my public one.

Add the following metadata providers and/or a Book Orbit integration?
Lyfesaver posted a topic in Feature Requests
I recently started moving my books over to Book Orbit (mostly just my audio books for now) but after seeing the ease of adding books and the metadata "just working" I have to believe it is something that Emby could do so I dont have to run two apps. Alternatively, maybe just an integration with Book Orbit so that my libraries there can be access via Emby? -
Title Switch (based on Version-Selection)
Anderella replied to Anderella's topic in Feature Requests
Re-Organizing all my library is still not an option for me, cause of folder structures and strict common naming formats in my lib since beginning. DVDs or Bluray's or TV-Recordings are all located on different "places". That's why I love that "Versions" are now supported, and hope that "Title-Switch" or Info will follow...... (please don't tell me I have to switch back my library to a previous version of emby-server) -
Why is Jellyfin so much more popular than Emby?
unisoft replied to Nabukodonosor's topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
No throttling in UK. GIG1 connection (actually around 1170mbps as over provisioned) with 107mbps on average upload using DocSIS 3.1. Client devices using full fibre from 3 other ISP's (symmetric on those) and these have superb ping and jitter times. Not ISP crap routers either. It has never detected WAN speed correctly in any Emby version for years. Always have to set a static value and then everything direct plays (media is compatible on all devices without transcoding). Without setting fixed speed of say 30mbps, an 11mbps TV Show will try at transcode at 4mbps (with nothing else using the upload). -
Hi. This is just a naming issue. If you name your versions properly, you will see them in the drop down. Movie Naming
