    Dolby Vision Profile 10

Dolby Vision Profile 10 carries a single ten-bit AV1 picture layer with Dolby Vision metadata.

Moving a Dolby Vision presentation from HEVC delivery to AV1 delivery changes the picture codec, not merely the container. Profile 10 supplies the single-picture-layer ten-bit AV1 arrangement, with Dolby Vision data carried in an ITU-T T.35 metadata OBU using an EMDF wrapper.

Trace the preparation of an AV1 delivery

An encoder can use an existing produced Dolby Vision master and its corresponding information to prepare an AV1 stream. The compressed picture needs real AV1 encoding. The associated metadata must be carried and remain consistent with those encoded pictures.

At playback, the reader locates AV1 picture data and metadata. The decoder reconstructs the AV1 samples; supported Profile 10 processing supplies the Dolby Vision interpretation; the output route presents the resulting image.

This separates three capability jobs: opening the packaging, decoding AV1, and using the selected Dolby Vision arrangement. A device's support for HEVC-based Dolby Vision does not complete the AV1 decoding job. AV1 decode support alone likewise does not supply the profile's metadata processing.

HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision-specific bases

    Shorthand Available base interpretation
    10.0 Dolby Vision-specific
    10.1 HDR10-compatible
    10.4 HLG-compatible

These forms determine the base presentation a supporting fallback path can use. Their numbers identify compatibility choices rather than steps in picture quality. The level remains another field describing processing limits.

For an Emby session, retain the AV1 and base-compatibility information beside the complete Dolby Vision record. If the destination uses the base, its light interpretation must match that variant. If video is transcoded, inspect the resulting codec and representation as the new output rather than assuming the source Profile 10 operations remained unchanged.
