Overview: Pixel layouts
Pixel layouts define how picture components are arranged in memory and exchanged between processing stages.
Two buffers can describe the same picture while storing its samples differently. Plane arrangement, component packing and precision affect how a decoder, filter or hardware interface accesses that data. NV12 and P010 are concrete layouts in this branch, following the general page on pixel formats and memory organization.
Pixel formats and memory layout
A pixel format defines how decoded picture components are represented and arranged for access by a processing stage.NV12
NV12 stores 8-bit 4:2:0 video using a luma plane followed by interleaved Cb and Cr samples.P010
P010 stores 10-bit 4:2:0 video in 16-bit words, with a luma plane and an interleaved Cb/Cr plane.
